Hey guys..

Does anyone know if there is a full engine rebuild kit for the 87 Supra 7MGE? My engine has 215,000 miles and it eats oil, like a quart a week. I want to restore this car to original status, but a little bit better.

Any help would be great! Thank you!

you can buy a seal kit but the rings and bearings will prolly be all separate but you can get them at the same place usually.
check out driftmotion.com or call them lots of parts and good prices

your best bet is to do a compression test and see what that says first... you want to know where the oil is leaking through before you tear it apart.

partsdinosaur.com has a lot of good stuf, i used them to rebuild my turbo engine.

i always go into excel, put everything i want, and from everywhere im buying, and i see if its worth spending an extra 2 or 5 dollars on a product on a site im already getting stuff from so i can save on shipping. and it makes things easier to keep track of if you put down everything.

like i said it i never had a problem with the parts i bought from them. the water pump was made my GMB and was made in japen along with Aisin oil pump. I also forgot to mention that it came a new timing belt and tensioner. The pistons are Compression Ratio: 9.2:1 with a stock Bore 83.00mm.

I'm just curious as to why you guys want to keep your engine. I have a N/A too, but i read about someone on another thread who went turbo and actually missed their N/A. So this all piques my curiosity. I may just rebuild my original motor...or go turbo. Anybody want to go turbo too? And why?

For me personally... I can have a fully built 7mge, get my suspension done, brakes, and tires for the cost of doing a turbo swap and making sure the turbo maintenance are good so I don't have a blown head gasket down the road and stuff.

I already have a Niisan 240sx that I plan on swapping out the stock motor with a turbo so I don't really need two turbo cars. And I have Kawasaki ZX10R and Honda CBR600RR so I can already go fast.. Just want to restore this Toyota Supra to it's original state but a little bit better.

not to get off topic but...

Yeah thats pretty much mine right now. Its pretty much the best DD i have ever had and its dependable with only 15,000 on the engine and new suspension its pretty much a new car. I do sometimes wish for more High end power. :icon_roll But that will come later when its not my DD

The 7m-Ge is a good motor. Just requires some minor changes. The parts are common and pretty cheap(depends, not always the case). Any JDM motor should be rebuilt and clearances checked.
The 7m-Ge's have served me well and get better gas mileage than all of my past vehicles. They are pretty fun, not the fastest things on the block.

On the Nissan note. Are you planning on going with the sr20 motor? Be careful on who you buy them from. The SR motors IMO are wore slam out. Plus they're popular and expensive. I've helped with and watched 3 swaps. One motor spun a bearing. The other had a loose timing chain, which turned into no oil pressure, then spun a bearing. The third has a loose timing chain, but is still running strong.

Replace oil pump, and timing chain(also the chain guides)

Interference motor+loose/wore timing chain=failure in the quickness.

You can always 1J(or 2j if you got the bucks) your Nissan, but to some people that is considered sacrilegious! ;] Though, More power for the buck.

thank you for your intellectial inputs. I plan on doing a RB20DET swap into the 240sx. I do think that SR are way too common and it's a little expensive. RB20DET seems cheap.. What do you think?

eehhhh...
the rb20 is ok, it is cheap moderate horsepower. is that what you're looking for?

You could pay a little bit more for the SR, get the same displacement, same horsepower, easier to find parts for. Plus it doesn't throw off the weight ratio like the RB motors.

Now if you really want the nastiness, then go with Rb25. But the cost will be higher.

Just depends on what you're going to be doing.

Drift, straight line, DD...
