7mge needs rebuilt. read for info.

Like the title states i need a place to take my 7mge to, to get rebuilt. It knocks and probably has a blown head gasket (low coolant light on when coolant is full). I live near Chattanooga tn and there are no good shops near me at all. This engine is probably hopeless to rebuild as it has 243k on it. I bought my mk3 supra knowing the engine is probably done but i can at least try to save it right :p. this engine has the following problems - some sort of loud knock, tons of oil on spark plugs, potential blown head gasket, no oil pressure. but still purrs at idle and does not smoke hardly at all somehow. If anyone is in my area in Georgia i would greatly appreciate any advice on where to take this engine to. Also i would rebuild this myself but i have never rebuilt an engine before and i need this done right for a car meet in april.

edit: i can remove this engine if needed. I just do not feel comfortable tearing into an engine. Also if you have a 7mgte for sale that runs and has the headgasket fix done to it contact me please. Heck id even take a good running non-turbo one.

Actually to hell with that idea. Id rather just risk it and buy a engine from tiger japanese and put a metal headgasket on there and arp studs. Has anyone ever had good luck from buying from them? i hear they are pretty good. I have about 1000 total to spend on an engine for this car.

Have you factored in Oil, Coolant, Gaskets, Hoses to your $1K budget or do you have additional funds to cover them?

Yeah I have. 1k is the most I'm spending on an engine for this thing. It shouldn't even be that expensive from what I've seen.i have enough money for fluids and other hoses and various parts I may need.

From the sounds of things, you don't know much about machine work. (Not being a dick here lol) So I'll add something in here. decking the head and block involves removing EVERYTHING from the bottom end of the engine.

Either way you go you really should rebuild, even if you do get a "lower mileage" JDM engine. Just rebuild the one you have and like everyone is saying, you need to deck the block and head if you go MHG, this is a MUST. 1k is really not enough imo.

Alright well since im going to be rebuilding anyways would it not be better to start with an engine that has no knock or anything of that sort? plus one that has less than 243 thousand miles on it. Im pretty sure its safe to say this engine has had enough in its lifetime. but you never know i guess. I guess ill try to find someone around where i live that knows a thing or two about these engines to give it a look. but yeah i guess ill just keep saving my money for this one.

I guess it does not matter but anyways i made a video of what it sounds like. http://youtu.be/eHbo1QrsZks tell me what you think. Worth the rebuild or not? also it wont run long without me holding it at a steady rpm. it runs smooth for like 10 seconds then starts surging until it dies.

Another question: how much do you think i would need to throw a 7mgte in there instead? plus a rebuild for that engine too. I would rather save and do that because for all the work im going to have to do its still going to be piss slow in the end. I have a Garrett turbo for it and its good for about 10-12 psi.
