7MGE Help?

Hello Everyone,
So I have a few questions about my 7MGE. To make a long story short, I bought an 85 4Runner with a 7MGE in it when I bought it. It ran really good and didn't seem to have any issues. Well, after I put a few hundred miles on it I started to notice a few things about it so I became a member here and started doing some research. Turns out it has a bad head gasket. I know, surprising right. Well I'm not going to cry over spilled milk so this morning I pulled the head and dropped it off at the machine shop to have it looked over and the surface machined. My question is, how much of the vacuum stuff can I get rid of? The truck has very few options on it, really just power steering and an alternator. There was a hard vacuum line that runs in front of the timing cover over to the intake side and back over to power steering pump I was wondering if I can get rid of this line? It also has some sort of vacuum canister that sits under the intake just in front of the starter. Can I get rid of this? What is it and what does it do? If you guys have some hints let me know.

I already have all the gaskets and just waiting for the machine shop to let me know how much they need to take off before I order a head gasket. I am also doing ARP studs and a new timing belt while I am in there. I also got NGK plug wires for it, new NGK plugs and a new cap and rotor. ANything else you guys can think of that I am missing?

I am going to be using this 4Runner in a lot of really remote places so longevity and reliability are my main goals. It has plenty of power for what I want to do with it.

Here are a few pics of the canister and where it goes andIMG_0037.jpgIMAG0170.jpgIMAG0171.jpgIMG_0032.jpg a few of the 4Runner for good measure.

The canister is for the ACIS, must not be hooked up.

The hard line is for the power steering, I wouldn't want to get rid of that, would be a little hard to steer with the size tires you have.

Thanks guys, So I should not hook up the canister? What is ACIS? I'm really not worried about the steering being harder, the truck has a ram assist on it to help with the bigger tires. Also, the "rack" of vacuum lines that sits under the intake, can I get rid of that? It was there before but nothing hooked up to it except 1 or two lines that didn't feel like they pulled any vacuum. I hope they don't because they were wide open on the other side. The 4Runner is far from a daily driver, it's more of a trailer queen than anything these days. I do still drive it down the road on occasion, but not very far and not very often.
Thanks again for the reply's.

Ok, I read the ACIS page and I understand what it does. I am confused as to why you say not to hook the canister up?

Not saying not to hook it up, by the pics you have I was saying it looks like you don't have it hooked up.

I removed it when I removed the head. I guess my question was not clear. I was asking if I could remove it or if I did remove it what ill effects it would have. After doing a little more research I will be putting it back on. Thanks for the link and the responses.
