Yeah, I was over on 300zxclub.com (the Supramania equivalent, has a LOT of info just like us) and I was looking at some engine bays and it looked big enough. I think the main issue would be tranny selection and electrical, I'm sure the R154 kicks whatever transmission Nissan used in the face with it's energy legs

Actually this has been done before, not sure by who because it was quite a while back that I saw it. I have an 87 Z31t and thought about doing a 2j into my mkiii and building the 7m and throwing it in the Z, but thats a good bit of work, time, and money on both cars.
The Nissan 5spd tranny on the NA Z's isnt bad really, same one that's in all 240's/Silvia's, has been known to hold over 450hp. The stock turbo 5spd from 87-88 was the same as in the Z32tt's which was known to hold over 600hp. Though you look at Nate and Duane putting over 800 through the R154 and the Nissan tranny looks kinda bleak. Plus it would be easier to make a custom driveshaft and tranny mount for the R154 than the bellhousing adapter and clutch you would have to add for the Z's tranny to be used.

it should fit fine, but the intercooler is the tough part as they didn't come with one...

not bad cars, but I don't think they're as nice as the old Z's or the later Z's...

Heck, screw the 2JZ, put a SBC in there, auto trans, and it's EASY to make it into a decient car power wise. (Besides, the auto is easy to figure out as shift linkage is a cable...)

Wrecked F body.
Get engine/ecu and trans, and other parts you might want like engine/trans mounts for modification...

Measure, and install. :)

A "turbo" body older Z car with a 375hp V8 would be fun. I don't think the bodies were built as well as the Supra, and the interiors are shit compared to the Supra, but hey, it's a lighter car IIRC.

A MK2 Supra with a V8 conversion would be a better car IMHO. :)

LS1. Not even kidding.

I've seen that done. I've also seen 2JZs done. The problem is, both of those are fairly expensive motors compared to a 7M. I just thought I'd ask what you guys thought about it. I really like the old 300ZX body style

Reason to slap a 7M into a Z31 would be for the wow factor. Or if you are attached to the 7M and know it inside and out for the motor is. Don't be fooled by the VG, it has plenty of potential.

+ Inline 6 in a car made for a V6 would effect handling in a not so great way.

Edit: Cheers
