I'll keep it short and sweet because I'm trying to write this at work. Haha.
Last night I had the big showdown within my circle of friends. One of my buddies has a 2002 Z28 Camaro with some work done to it and the thing hauls some serious ass. For a while now he's been making some friendly boasts that I'd get romped on, and I honestly didn't know which way things would go, one way or the other.
I know we're both a good deal faster than a friend of mine's SN-95 Mustang with a brand new PI motor that dyno'd at 273 RWHP, but I've never had any actual dyno time so my output is still a big mystery to me.
We ended up running from a 50 mph roll and I pulled on him every single time by a healthy margin (probably 2 car lengths). We had a caravan of our boys watching from the far left lane and I was told my car sounded like a fighter jet on spool-up. Hehe. After about three untouchable pulls, we dipped off the highway and headed back to our regular commuter lot hangout to bullshit about things.
That's when the excuses came rolling in.
Now, I can get behind someone admitting they weren't on their A-game when racing, but to blame my success on a missed shift is kinda gay. Apparently he was having trouble getting into fourth, but I'm of the mindset that's operator failure. He definitely pushed his car too hard trying to chase me down though because when he got ready to leave and started his car up, it sounded like someone was playing spoons under his hood and his exhaust reaked of coolant.
As bad as I felt for him, I thought it was mildly amusing that the supra wasn't the one limping home with a BHG and rod knock...
