Ok, i've upgraded airflow (lexus afm, cooleeze turbo inlet pipe, lipp turbo elbow, megan racing dp, 3in back to tip), upgraded fuel (lexus afm, aeromotive fpr, pt 550cc injectors, walbro 255lph fuel pump) and id like to upgrade ignition just to have the whole thing done. So far I have the NGK Iridiums (BCPR6EIX) but i've heard that some cars dont run right w/ them because of lack of power from the coil pack. That a aftermarket ignition system is sometimes needed. Anyone know about this? Any recomendatoins? I've heard that the 2JZ MSD Ignition system works on the 7M but that I'd have to call MSD for the wiring specs. I've also seen the AEM C2DI 4 & 8 Channel systems for the supra. Any idea's? :1zhelp:

I think our coil packs will supply enough power for those plugs. Alot of people use the stock coil packs even in the gigher power ranges.

IJ uses an aftermarket pack you could try PM'ing him.

From my searching & researching around here, it seems that most consider the stock ignition to be plenty powerful ...
Though I have to admit, I'm not familiar with the iridium plug issue you mention.

*oh yeah - and the reason I wanted to say sumthin ... have you seen the prices on ignition systems? ... Yikes!

I like just the standard NGKs.

i'm running the same plugs as you, cant remembre for the life of me which heat range though, ether 6 or 7. i know i have the colder one, whichever it is.

anyway i have no issues. teh car runs like a dream. that is with ngk wires also. and yeah, the stock coild pack is plenty powerful. once you know that your making more power than the stocker can handle you will also be expierianced enough to know what to do to upgrade it (like IJ).

colder would be 7... im planning on getting msd wires for my car. w/ all the mods listed above i wanna go to titan motorsports when my cars done and get my emanage installed and everything tuned. im hoping that w/ a stock re-sealed 7M-GTE, a titan motorsports 1.4mm mhg and a wastegate shimmed at 10psi that the car should be plenty reliable (i hope)

Autolite 3923 coppers. Change them more often, but durable. Also look over on www.mkiiitech.com. Dr. J has some good info over there as well. I have an HKS unit, but I don't think it actually does anything. I unplugged it on the dyno and my HP actually went up! Weird...

Im running msd gm coil packs they work with the factory ignition, Im running these due to the fact the msd dis-4 wont work with the factory coil packs on my car heres a pic of the setup, I had to use different ends on the coil side which is quite easy to do Ive had my spark get blown out when running rich on an old set up Ive had no problems running these at 20+psi on a gt35r Im still VERY rich 9-10ish under WOT

AEM CDI won't work with stock ECU (you will not be able to start motor). In fact most of CDI AEM produced failed. I ran mine for about 300 miles then noticed strange behaviour - like missing spark on idle and light load. Bypassed CDI and it works better. I don't want it to fail at high speed when overcoming other car.
AEM still didn't fixed this problem, even newest Twin Fire not perfect yet

One thing stuck out to me like a sore thumb, you have just about everything fuel wise you can get except for one thing...LIPP makes a larger fuel rail for cheap (like 150-170ish) that would pretty much top off you fuel needs, as far as coil packs, there was a guy on ebay making a kit to use 2j coils on the 7m (he made the custom oil galley cover to hold the coils and the harness to plug them up to the stock 7m ignitor. The only other thing needed was the actual 2j coils. I Believe he sold this kit for around 150.00).

The dis-4 works with some I also have the tach adapters but it would not work with the MY stock coil packs theres another post where a member found that older coil packs short out with the dis-4, I installed the msd coil packs and it fired right up.
