A high stall converter will do wonders for your off-the-line performance.
IPT does them too for about $500 + your converter + shipping.
In fact, I think there is one on eBay right now.
Yea im gona do auto. Kep it stock and then build it when I rebuild the motor. I think its the best way 2 go, for me overall I can do just about anything with it. And it will be good in trafic. Sucks its soo much thoughh lol
All depends on your goals, to do a 7M properly isn't in any way "cheap"
The forum is littered with the results of cheap builds, while they may make some good numbers they're short lived, the 2J is a better starting point due to Toyota learning from the 7M and it evolving into the 2J
So in the end it would be cheaper to get a 2jz-GTE from say an aristo and use its transmission? as opposed to the stock auto?. Or use the aristo 2j and hook it up to a built auto tranny?.
no the aristo 2jz will need work to fit. IJ is saying the 2jz-NA-T is a simpler/cheaper swap. Which it is mainly for the reason he listed and you can keep the stock intercooler layout. Nothing is going to be as simple as keeping the 7m and building the trans you have. Autos are pretty sweet with bigger turbos!
I havent decided myself if i will go 2jzna-t or just rebuild the 7m in the future.
