Alright, I've found some successful swap pics/vids, but it's all from 240sx websites where everyone is 7M haters and just say to do an SR swap... Here goes... I have a 7MGTE in the garage, and a 240sx that I daily drive. I had no intention of this upon purchasing either of the two-but, let me ask a somewhat satanic question:
They make brackets that replace the 240sx mounts and mount a 1JZ or 2JZ in the 240sx. Now...a 1JZ or 2JZ swap into later model MK3 Supras without replacing the 7M mounts or crossmember, right?
So, does that mean a 7M could get swapped in using those same 1JZ-in-a-240SX brackets?
I don't want to hear about what a worthless swap this is, or how I should just do a JZ or SR swap. I've heard enough of that and read enough of that in other people's posts. I've been in love with the 7M from the second I drove one, and I already have a 7MGTE in the garage that is on it's way to my n/a Supra. So the other thought in the back of my mind is...the coming out would love to go in a car that was 800lbs lighter! That Godly torque, I'm just imagining...where would all that torque go if it were pushing a car 800lbs lighter? And if I'm getting 22mpg anyway, what would that be in the same 800lbs lighter car?

Those brackets you're talking about use the stock 7m motor mounts. the only difference is the bracket that is attached to the engine.

These custom bracket allow the jz motors to drop in right onto the stock 7m mounts.

I'm not sure how that would play out, the jz bracket aren't the same as the 7m ones.

I doubt that this will be a bolt-on affair, I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in on this.

The brackets I'm talking about don't mention 7M, they are 1JZ-in-a-240SX bracket.

I thought a 1JZ drops into a MK3 supra if you have the "late model round engine mounts"? That's from the supras.nl 1JZ swap report.
The idea here is that with those brackets, a 1JZ could drop in. And (neglecting clearance issues) if a 1JZ could also be dropped into a supra where a 7M just came out, would a 7M not bolt into the 240sx with 1JZ brackets?

i own a 240sx with a turbo SOHC and i wouldnt want a SR either. to tell you the truth for the price of those mounts you could almost buy a decent welder, they run about $600. if your really into cars and modifying things then i suggest you buy one.

we have had a tig for about 7yrs before we got a 110Vmig. the mig is decent for body work and up to about 1/4in but after that i always use the tig welder. mig is nice for some things and tig is nice for some things.
