I'd have to look at a job closer, I know he says no job closer can match his pay but come on. The time spent sitting in the car not around his sick daughter has to count for something. He's basically working two jobs with the time spent commuting. Even at 30mpg the cost of fuel would add up fast too.

Maybe I'm just crazy though and would never want to spend that much of my life driving to and from work.

It's probably more about the health insurance benefits. He's probably been working at that company long enough to be grandfathered in under a previous company policy, back when the policies were actually decent. He won't find that if he goes to another company.

agreed...and cystic fibrosis? Sounds expensive. Anywhere else he'd probably be severely in debt. Not to mention switching healthcare policies could make it IMPOSSIBLE to get carried anywhere else.... existing illness and all....

I didn't think about insurance that would make more sense my mistake. Still sucks he has to commute that much and not see his kid.
