Ok so i'm having a debate...

How long will the 60 1 ct26 last with around 14 lbs of boost?

Some say it will last really long and others say it won't last at all. Like drift motion doesn't recommend it at all...

And if it will last what kinda power can i be looking at without over pushing the turbo?

LOL Long ago mine last for a decent amount of time BUT.......

In the end it did fail and I mean big time. The actual shaft broke while under full boost. The aluminium was rubbing the housing so fast at that point you can see where it appears to have caught the aluminium on fire itself. Made a giant "James Bond" style cloud of concealing smoke out the back and my heart fell through the floor with that "ahhh crap there goes my motor" feeling.

I still have the melted aluminium slug here somewhere that was my compressor side turbine.

Wasn't real good for the rest of the motor either as I remember now.

I never once said i dont know how much power i want? but nor did i say my goal....

Some people are telling me the 60-1 is only good for around 350hp
then other people and sites say it can be good for around 450-500hp...
I just dont want to take my chances and buy something that
im going to have and replace really soon just because i want more power.

search, this topic has been beat to death.

Click search and type 60-1....
Yep nothing...

Not really sure what other "Terms" to use
other than 60-1.

And most threads that are talking about upgrading the ct26
just talk about the 57 trim from what ive seen...

Not trying to be an asshole in anyway what so ever, just
stressed out about my whole turbo situation and the people
lying to me just to get me to buy there turbo...

I've been running a 60-1 for awhile now with no problems..... How long a upgraded turbo last has a big factor of who rebuilt it. It is possible to hit over 400hp with the 60-1. Where in ohio are you located?

Well take the advice from us here at supramania....a 60-1 is too much for the small ct! A 60-1 will get you well above 350hp with supporting mods! a 57 trim ct26 is pretty much as much sex in a small package that you can safely do! The 57 has gotten many a supra over 400hp with good reliability....although being such a small turbo it doesn't keep up well in high rpms...our motors out breath the turbo in the top end but it does kick some ass in the low end!

Good luck with your choice and take advice with a grain of salt...but keep in mind that we have nothing to gain by telling you to stay away from the 60-1! There is a reason driftmotion doesn't sell them anymore and trust me it's not because they don't like money!!!! No it's because they actually care about the products they sell!

That is the kind of answer i have been looking for all along...
A guy on here was trying to sell me a 60-1 and said his buddy
has been running it for 5years with 14-15lbs of boost.
I appreciate it a ton man.

Also how about a GT42?
I also have a chance to buy one of these from a local
guy, i know its a hugge turbo, and probably wont kick in
till around high 3's and low 4's but its a turbo i know i could
use for a loongg time to come due to the fact that it can
hold and push massive amounts of hp.

Ive got 2000 miles on mine and iys great. i know thats not alot but i havent had an issue yet.

If your researchin a 60-1 and then throw out there a gt42 mkaes me think you need to research a bit more based on how different those turbos are

son it seems as though you are new to the turbo supra...if your stock turbo is on it's way out then get a rebuilt 57 and focus on maintaining the car and appreciating it for what it is! Slow your roll and save some money to spend on a rebuilt motor....when the time comes for you to get upgrades you will no longer need to ask our opinions as you will know exactly what you want cause you will be spending alot of time on here learning and fixing! The way I look at it is "if you have to ask then you aren't ready!"...this ofcourse is within reason....

The best mod you can do to a supra is simply take care of it as it's not getting any younger!

I still am very confused about the numbers used to identify a turbo "ex: .68a/r"...i don't believe I'm ready to go turbo...I've learved alot and have worked alot on turbo supras, but untill this small shit then I'm gonna stick with the stock turbo!

My buddy has ran a 57 trim ct26 on his supra for a long time now, at one point he was running 20lbs reliably for almost a year. No problems. Whats that for hp? It was around 480ish i wanna say? maybe? Deffinatly say go with the 57. Can't go wrong there. That's what i wanna get.

The 57 makes very good power, and is already maxing out the stock compressor housing. The 60-1 is too large for the small CT26 housing, and makes only a little more power for a lot more lag and less reliability.

I also believe the 60-1 compressor wheel is an older garrett design with 7 blades instead of the usual 6 blades, and is optimized for higher boost pressures at the expense of a bit more lag due to the wheel being heavier with 7 blades. (someone correct me if I'm incorrect!)

Yikes dude! a GT42.....that hella big. I'm just putting together a 2jz with a GT40 and the first thing is, it isn't cheap, and I'm thinking you don't have the supporting mods to go with something like that yet either (I could totally be wrong man, not trying to dis you or anything with that comment).

Are you running a boost controller on what you got now? You'd be surprised how much you gain with just that if your motor is in good shape and well maintained and such. Big huge smiles per mile quick and easy for sure.

But better than anything be sure to take care of the motor whatever it is you got now. Take your time and you'll eventually find the upgrade path your most comfortable with.

Honestly I had great fun with my old 7m setup. I outgrew it but hey I've owned the car for 20years now. I'm the original owner. LOL. Not many can say that I bet. I think your in for great drives regardless of how you choose.

I am only suggesting the gt42 because i have the chance to get it from a local guy and i know it will be a turbo i could use forever. For i don't plan on going over 500 horses. But i think you guys got me convinced on the 57 trim, it will and can hit around 400?

And yes i do got a boost controller lol.

The CT upgrades make good power up to 400, but the top end is really lacking compared to a bigger turbine housing like a T3 or T4. The powerband is not as wide and power fades a lot after 5000rpm.
