Each manufacturer has a procedure for how they think their clutches should be broken in to ensure long life and good engagement. Most clutches have instructions of a number you can call to get instructions.
If you just go nuts right away you even the nicest of clutches can turn into a POS.

Hmm... I've had my rounds with ebay clutches. Never again...

That second seller doesn't even have accurate info posted. 86-93!? Did 93's come with r154's?

mkiii were made until may of 93 i believe

ive used a six puck sprung on an aluminum Flywheel and it was a bitch around parking. used a six puck on another car with a light weight steel fly wheel and it was much more drivable. held power and easy to drive with

Wow well that sounds fun. Ill prolly have trouble with the shifter. Should i pull the transmission out completely and put the clutch in with the transmission away from the car or do i just unbolt the trans from the motor and put the clutch in then bolt back up?

I'd go +1 on the SPEC Stage 3+...I also had a 6 puck sprung disk with an AL flywheel and hated it for DD use. It held power great, but stop-n-go made me look like an idiot. It really wanted to grab and would shutter the car if you tried to engage it smoothly. There are plenty of options for the full face route for the DD toys like mine.

I know you already bought one, but wanted to throw that in there in case you change your mind when you need another one!

Also, tranny removal isn't too bad, but I don't think you need to remove the clutch line from the slave...you'd have to bleed the line after reinstalling it. The 4 times I've taken my trans out I haven't taken the line off the cylinder. I also have a stainless steel flex line so that might be the difference...get one of those, too! :) If you can, it'd also be nice to have a lift with about 3-4' of extensions...it makes it about a hour job or so to get the trans dropped. Your experience may vary...but I've had to do it enough recently that it's not too bad of a job.

Good luck!!!

Remove the shift boot interior piece and it's just 4 bolts to remove the shifter. When you pull out your shifter, check the plastic bushing on the end that goes into the linkages for excess movement. I had to replace mine and went with a $12 Marlin Crawler piece off Driftmotion.

I think he just means to unbolt the slave from the tranny. Don't forget to ziptie it in a comfy/safe location.

Well i just got the clutch kit in the mail today and i looked at all the instructions on how to put it in and I think im gonna get someone else to put it in hahaha. If i had a lift id do it but i dont wanna pull my transmission out in my driveway on jack stands. Plus i feel like id mess it up ive never replaced a clutch before. So i guess ill have to save up money to pay 300-400 bucks to get it put in :( Sucky supreme

Im gonna get the same guy I got to put in my other clutch to do it. He did an awesome job. He said it would be easier to put this one in because its rearwheel drive and my focus had FWD transaxel.

Tranny has to come completely out because the pressure plate and clutch disk will be in the bellhousing. Also, you're want to replace the snap rings and washers on the throwout bearing hub assembly (and make absolutely sure it's assembled correctly or it WILL fail).

This will help as well: http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/TSRM/MK3/manual.aspx?S=CL&P=12

When you say it will fail what are the signs? Noises or no clutch engagement anymore? I hate reading stuff like this since it makes me question my own work. I followed the procedure exactly but the diagrams in the TSRM are difficult to make out sometimes i.e. which direction the conespring goes. I did use all new washers and clips thankfully.

sweet. Hope everything works out for you. I just drove mine to work today. I switched my motor into a new chasis and finally got to drive a Supra again Its been over a year. New chasis has 2004 registration stickers lol. So I am sure the car is happy to be on the road again.

Why is a 6 puck considered more agressive than a full face? Wouldn't a full face hold more power than a 6-puck if the pressure plate is of equivalent clamping ability? It would seem to me the surface area of the full face would make it hold more?
