Didnt know where else to post this so I thought here would be good :D

This all started over a damn keyway :icon_evil

Well seeing as the person who was going to loan us the engine hoist started acting like a dick, we had to make our own... :biglaugh:

The chain's are wrapped around two 2x4 beams in the attic. The landlords won't be too happy, but well, I don't really give a damn anymore. It worked didn't it?

Anyway, grandma helped out with the engine stand

The engine is too tall by about 2-3" to clear the bottom of the engine stand

Mashed crank snout

OK so this is where the other problems are. For some reason my number 1 rod bearing was pretty FUBAR'd. All the other rod bearings looked to be in decent shape.

However, ALL of my main bearings were scored pretty badly.

Bottom of the cylinders look pretty toasty, but I didn't see any scoring. Which is good b/c the pistons aren't coming out anyway. No time or $$ to pull the head...

So we're putting everything back together tonight. Got the new crank, new bearings, timing gear, keyways, gaskets, main seals, etc.

Crank pulley should be here tomorrow. Hope to God the USPS doesn't screw THIS one up!

Thankies. Engine is getting pieced back together tonight, crank pulley will be here tomorrow. So she should be back on the road tomorrow sometime. The crappy part is having to baby the engine until it's broke in.

Tanya, unless you change the rings there really isn't a break in period is there?

Uhm, I think 1500 miles would be about right to break in the bearings, or from what I've been told/learned.

1500 miles w/ 3 oil changes @ 500 mile increments to remove any metal shavings from the wearing in of the bearings.

That's what I'm planning on doing anyways.

The pulley should be here in the next few hours and we've got the bottom end back together, just scraping gasket material off crap now, then gotta put the front and rear main seals in. After that it should go back in relatively quickly.

Should there be metal shavings from putting bearings in? I didn't notice any after putting mine in and changing the oil about 2500 miles later... :icon_conf

I don't know anything though... seriously.

ummmm ok new crank with out geting it all balanced and not throwing rings and a fresh HG at it????????

ummmmm ok

No money man. It was $500 just to do what we had done, and we had to get the car running before Tuesday (have to move).

The HG was replaced before I got the engine and the engine still had 180psi in all cylinders. No need to fix what is not broken.
