5m in mk3???

Ok I know this is the wrong forum but I had an idea.

A guy in the other county has a mk2 supra with an upgraded CT26 turbo, boost comtroller pistons. rebuilt motor and trans. anyway I wanted to know if anyone knows if it would be stupid to buy this and install it in an mk3 because the mk2 body needs a lot of work.

as good as a 5M is, you're losing displacement and switching to an older motor design, it's like putting an LT1 into a newer Corvette. Even if it has been modified and makes more power than whatever LS is in there, it's still a step back..

5m is the perfect candidate for a mk3 when the 7m motor it comes with is already blown or needs to be replaced. Or if you don't have money for a jz swap and want a running/realiable mk3 to look cool in, 5m is the answer. If you have money go ahead and do your jz swap or dump money on the 7m.

KEEP THE MK2. fix the rust and you will have a sick supra that doesnt weight 3500pounds and later on you can add a 7mgte in it and OMG you will be the happiest man alive.

Not all rust can be fixed, and not everyone can afford to repair it properly.

Outside of that, unless they 5M is built for boost, it's not a good move IMHO...

however, toyota (being the smart automaker they were) decided "hey, lets make a better engine and move forward" and thus the JZ series...

if you dont have the money to take care of your 20+ year old GT car the way it should be, go buy a honda

idk what your on but my mk2 weighs in at 2800 lbs and thats with me in it :naughty:

Just don't take two steps backwards.

Step 1 Backwards - Going with an older, smaller displacement motor.
Step 2 Backwards - Going through the troubles, Only to find out the motor is $#%@'ed.

Go for it. I won't doubt for a second it'd be a fun car still, but to be honest,
I'd just keep it in the/another MKII where it belongs.
