I was getting ~300WHP with my twins why go single just to get 50HP.
I would go with a GT35R +
You can daily with the 150+ more hp.
If your going to spend 400 for only a 50HP gain why?
Before I would comit to buy this are these turbos prone to surge on our engines?
Thats what drove me to get a GT35R also.

All of the holset turbos use a t3 flange, and they get A LOT bigger than a GT35.

Holset hx35 =~GT35
Holset hx35/40 =~GT37
Holset hx40 =~GT40

MDC ran 550whp through a hx35 on a 7m, a 1jz has the capability of doing the same or better.

The great things about holset turbos, they are inexpensive. I payed $40 for my turbo, and they show up on ebay routinely for under $400.

wait a minute. I just looked at that ebay page and it says that holset turbo can support UP TO 350 WHP. so whats the difference? And my stock twins right now are probably about 260-270 WHP so it would be more like 100 WHP gain and it would respond quickly. I don't know how Evil Empire got 300WHP out of his twins because stock is 280 at the crank and people who have dynoed their stock 1JZs have reported about 265WHP. str8 6 said that he had same turbo as me and he made 338 WHP @ 15 psi on a 1JZ w stock fuel pump and injectors. I have a walbro 255 and 550s plus everything else he had AND I'm gonna try to run it closer to 20psi. So... I think I would be closer to 375-400 WHP. And everyone keeps missing the underlying fact. I could pay this guy $20/month starting a year from now and he would have no problem with that. Plus... once I have the T4 mani and errything else I could always sell this turbo to pay for a bigger one. I dont remember who said that 350 was the most I could get but it seems like an underestimation. No?

350whp on a diesel, it is different on a gas motor. apxhero ran this turbo on his cressida with a 1jz swap and was at 300whp at 12psi, no where near where this turbo is happy. It also spools quick so full boost by 4k is almost a garuntee. I am shooting for ~400whp at 18 or so PSI.

holsets motto should be "If you dont like spending money on your car, buy this!" you can interpret than any way you want it works out. I say get the turbo see how you like it, and at the very least its a learning experience. Im satisfied with 10lbs on my twins, not everyone wants a shit ton more power.

If you dont how to safely get more HP out of stock twins :dunno:

You should be able to to get 13-14psi on stock twins Y pipe delete cat 3" exhaust FMIC JDM tuned ECU upgrade under drive pully kit etc ... its easily possible to get 300+ WHP out of the 1JZ.

Just keep your EGT down and you good to go.

over 300WHP on the twins is impressive but that is spending about $400-$500 though. I could probly get this turbo on my car for $800-900 and then I have more HP and I'm set up for even more if I rock a bigger turbo. Hey off the topic but my post has been on NA section all day w no responses...but I just bought a 87 NA DD and fogs dont work and blinkers dont work, fuses are fine. But the instrument lights flicker when I move the highbeams/blinker toggle around. I've been lookin for a short all day and still haven't found one. anybody ever have this happen?
