high impedance injectors dont run exactly the same as our Low impedance and the resistor pack. our injectors are paired and fired by only 3 channels, not 6. so, the stock setup is 3ohm + 3ohm +3 ohm for a total of 9 ohms at the injector driver, give or take.
technically, it could be anywhere from 4ohms to 7.6ohms for the paired injectors, add 3ohms for the resistor pack and you have a total of 7ohms to 10.6 ohms seen at the driver.
running high impedance injectors are 12ohm to 14ohm resistance. pair that up on our semi-batch fire system and youre getting over twice the resistance seen at the injector drivers in the ECU; 24ohm to 28ohms of resistance. im not electronics guru like ol' JetJock but im pretty sure thats not a good thing. im willing to bet that having too much current draw thru the injector drivers can cause a failure later on down the road. either in the harness, the ECU or the motor itself due to inadequate PWM signals.

i have been running highs for about 4 years now and haven't noticed any problems. but i am not electronic guro either. i know of some others that are using the same ones i am and they have no problems either. i guess only more time will tell

yeah, i wouldnt say that the high's wont work. its just that i have no idea what would go wrong; ive never seen anyone run them long enough to find out.
the low impedance injectors are purple (when new) or Tan (when old) tops. the Red/pink ones are the high impedance injectors. ive managed to collect a full set of S4 T2 injectors, again. i let my other set go when i sold my 91 a few years ago. these are getting harder and harder to find now that everyone knows they exist.

i think the cutoff for the correct injectors is early 88 model year, or late 87 production date. someone once sent me a set of S4 injectors but had oval connenctors and they were not the correct ones but still had low impedance. IIRC, they were red tops too.

Sounds like with that results is they pretty much suck and for the people that have them with no problems got lucky.bigaaron said:
We have a set of these in a 300zx TT and they work quite well. The car is running 720cc injectors, two GT28RS's, forged internals, ported heads and an emanage. It hasn't blown up yet at up to 18 psi of boost.
