Hi to all.

I'm currently rebuilding my 7mgte:forged rods, pistons ......

My goal is to make 450-500 rwhp.

All the suporting mods ( turbo, fuel, intercooler.... ) will be done in order to obtain my power goals.

So my question is: will this be possible with a lexum afm, 550 injectors, safc and propper dyno tunning.

I dont want to go with a maft pro cus nobody has any experiance tunning it in my area, a standalone would be nice but is it realy required for my power goals ???

I'm also installing a custom ffim, and wondering if I should go with the stock throttlebody, or go with a bigger one for my power goals. Any suggestions on make a model for a tried and tested TB would be appiciated, dont want to get that cheep stuff on ebay.

Feel free to comment, any suggestions will be appriciated.

Thanks.

Without maxing out the 550's duty cycle, the area of 425 rwhp could be attained with those injectors (with the other supporting mods being addressed). This is mostly my setup as well, haven't dynoed, but from all my research, seems about right. I used a 1UZ tb with my intake. It worked quite nicely.

I have made 540whp with rc 550s (at their ceiling). For your combo, I woudl use the stock tb for simplicitys sake, but 1uz, q45, mustang style, have all been used on FFIMs successfully. What turbo are you using for this setup?

Thanks guys for the info, I realy apreciate it :icon_razz

Thanks NEWWESTSUPPRAS for the ffim pic, it looks nice, I always prefferd the short runner type ( look wise ) cus they look like oem.

The long runner ffim, ( made with a straight pipe ), must work very nicely as well.

If I may ask, what is the size of your base plate on your ffim NEWWESTSUPPRAS ( where the runners are welded ) I will go with a 5" wide plate and a 5" diameter pipe on the other side. Any sugesstions ???

Thanks for the info on TB SLOW66, I will stick with the oem one.

For the tubo I'm going for LIPP BOSS SERIES, stage 5 with a T04E 58 or 61, I'm not sure yet ( will have to do more research on that )

I whant a lipp boss series cus it's supposed to bolt right to my manifold, and should fit my exaust ( with the spacer they provide ).

I have a custom exaust with the tubo elbow and down pipe as one unit, made out off ss steal, it looks like a lipp elbow. the rest is 3" ss steal as well.

I payed 1800 can$ to have it custom made, it may be a little picey but it's the nicest part on my mk3, the welds are barely noticeble and looks amazing, hade it for 3 years.

Just for reference I have a Lex and 660's and my car runs really rich, but I a HKS SAFR, forged pistons, FMIC (stock routing), No need for a FFIM, at my power level (yet) but I have made 407rwhp and 408rwtq with boss turbo on pump gas. With 25 psi and some race gas, it should be close to 500rwhp. I'm planning on staying with the Lex AFM until I can get a AEM.

Hey , thanks for info, what lipp turbo are you running ??? Did you have any installation issues ???

Your right the ffim is not required for my desired powerlevels, I 'm dooing it cus I like the way it looks, and cleans up the engine bay + I have time to make one, plus I have a very good porting performance shop ( praticaly in my backyard :icon_bigg ) so I will ask them to flow test the ffim with the head.

I have a TO4E 60-1 no install issues at all. Also if you go FFIM I would get away from the AFM because it is something that will hinder your performance and the way you wire up your system. Go with a VPC or Maft pro system and you'll be better off.

Eventualy I will go with a standolone, but not until i can find a reel pro to tune one properly, heard of a guy with a hevely moded 300zx that had nightmers with tunning ( he had to adjust for air temperature and humidity, on a daily or weekley basis cus where I live it can change from 1 deg. celcius to -15 in one night, not sure if the story is true or what kind of sys. he had ) but it scares me.:nono:

Get the Maft Pro, it's just a piggy back that gets rid of the AFM and makes your car a Map Based car and you get rid of a bunch of stuff. I'm thinking about going this route if I go FFIM. For now I get minimal lag and my setup runs pretty good for a daily driver.

Thanks for suggestions, I was thinking about the same thing ( maft pro ), did tons of research on it, asked on my local supraforum ( supraquebec ) and could not find anyone with any experiance tunning it.

So I tought maybe just go with the maft translator ( the basic one, vehicule specific ) with the GM map sensor and fine tune it with a safc:dunno:

What do you think ???

Do you already have a SAFC? If so you can keep it, but I would just sell it and get the whole Maft kit and tune it on a dyno and log it with a wideband.

Can you post some pics of your engine bay/ turbo set-up?

This is Greg from Lipp. There is no need to use a spacer for the Boss Turbo.I do sell one and they were used on another brand of turbo. If you need to call, use this number 651-342-0100, this is for the shop and I will answer your question.

My only question is why on the Lex? I have it, it runs great. No questions asked. I beat fuel cut.

But 500 rwhp is a lot, and has been done on the Lex meter. But stand alone would give you much better control and drivability, as you aren't lying to the ECU by scaling your AFM.

I haven't used MAFT-Pro and wont, but from testimony by worthy users, it is a great piggy back.

Thanks Greg for the clarifications on the spacer for the BOSS SERIES :icon_razz, will sure call you before buying my setup.

And yes I have the SAFC, so I would like to keep it. From what I saw on diffrent forums the maft-pro is a very good system as long as you tune it propperly, so I asked the tunnig shops ( with dynos ) in my area and all I got was : ya uhg I guess we can do it, but nobody is familiar with it or have done it before.

I'm not saying that those guys aren't able to tune cars or the maft pro, cus some of them are very good ( previous experience ) they would eventualy get it working but in what time and for how much $$$, don't want to leave my car at the dyno for a month lol.

With all the suggestions and comments I got from you guys, thanks by the way :drink1:, maybe I'v set my power goals to hight and should get a reality check, like the guy sed on 7M POWER : SPEED COSTS MONEY, HOW FAST DO YOU WANA GO. ( or spend, lol ).
