heh i just realized maybe its cus the starter wasnt bolted on! hahaha... it was probably just getting pushed up by the flywheel and thwt was the noise we were hearing. i'll think harder next time before i post im sorry. if thats not it, i'll come crying back to this thread.

in all honesty tho you guys have helped me greatly. i just need to figure out which bellhousing bolts go where (anybody have any insight into this? i can figure out a few but i think im missing one and dont know what length go where), install the pedals, and plumpb the clutch. then i gotta find some new exhaust gaskets slap on my old stock exhaust, fill up my radiator connect the hose and blammmmoooo..... im gonna be rippin it up!

oh ya and fill the tranny.

lols.Took me 3 days to do my swap.Removal of the auto was piece of piss, just trying to get the input shaft to go into the pilot bearing was the problem. It had all this gunk built up on it so it wouldnt go in.
The bellhousing bolts are easy enough.Just look at where the bolts go,Some need to be longer than others so go from there.
Fill your manual up from inside the car, before you put the shifter in.
goodluck

hey.. ok i need some more advice hopefully someone can chime in. i got everything done, but now when i start the car there is this horrible squaeeling/whirring noise. i believe its from the starter not disengaging., i've heard somehting about starter spacers. where can i get them and do we nee them on our car or did i fuck something up!? the engine will start, once it catches it kinda struggles, but it still idles with a werird sound, then i rev it and it squeeeeeaaals like a piggy and stumbles and almost dies..

There are a lot of things that could be making that noise:

There could be something wrong with your clutch assembly like the throwout bearing, clutch disc backward, pilot bearing installed misaligned, a shim or c-clip issue, or even just a loose belt. Where is the noise coming from? Did you use a Haynes as a reference or did you follow the TSRM step by step? We need to start the process of elimination.

well the clutch assembly should all be together right as my dad hired a mechanic to do that and help me put the tranny in. the clutch disc was installed correctly i am pretty sure. i have a video of the sound, but its in .3gp format so you'll need a 3gp file viewr or a cell phone.

i mianly wanted to know of the existence and where i can get these starter spacers as i'm fairly confident that is the issue.
