Pretty cool. further proof that the reliability of equipment has a great deal to do with how well it's maintained. This guy managed to get a mustang to 230,000 miles as well.

2 timing belts? 400K????? Seems like he missed some of his regular maintenance. 3 head gaskets ( 1 ever 133K miles maybe if averaged out). Not bad none the less!, that mustang WOW big surprise there tho!

400k, that's awesome!

Mine just passed 300k and I got it with 270k. It wont be anywhere near stock by the time it gets to the next 100k mark, but I have all intentions of driving it to 400k. Maybe 500k if I'm lucky. :)

The most I ever put on a MKIII was 325,000+ - but these cars do last forever. My MKIV is at 190,000

FANTASTIC! My first (of three) had 227k miles (a MKII '84) when I sold it still running great, but burning a quart/500~1000 miles run hard. A guy had a MKIII N/A with over 300k locally, and the highest mileage I ever saw personally on a car was some college students with a ritual "hand-off-to-next-class" Volvo St. Wagon with 640K+ running good. (Ugly burnt orange!)

Anyway... just into 100k with the '89 below now, but was daily driven first 80k miles or so and after being "down" for many years inbetween, just now back to regular "recreational use" in it's 3rd or 4th life.

This dude's story is just awesome!

Two head gasket replacements and maybe a third at 400k on a stock 7mgte. Why??? When did head gasket replacement become part of the regular schedule maintenance. I've looked in the TSRM but I can't find it.

Dude - it's the most common failure on the 7M and is well documented all over the place. Read/search the forums. But basically it's the OEM torque spec was too low from the factory, and there were flaws in the headgasket design. It's a side effect of the overly long inline 6 head, the gasket design/material, the torquespec and the bi-metal nature of the motor (Iron block/Aluminum head). This is why the metal headgasket is considered a must have upgrade for the 7MGTE.

Trust me I have read, searched and lurked all over SM and SF concerning the BHG problems. The under torque and flawed Gasket has been covered over and over again but your point of the overly long inline six and the bi-metal nature of the head and block is something I hadn't come across before. It just caught me by surprise that the owner had to repair it twice and now maybe a third time on stock boost motor. I was starting to wonder if the madness ever ends with these BHG on 7M's.

When a block/head is properly machined and a metal head gasket is installed, along with ARP studs at the proper torque spec, and when there are reasonable horsepower goals, the motor can last virtually forever. There's no problem with a 450-550 RWHP daily driver 7M provided it is put together and tuned correctly.

The car is NA, so it's a 7MGE, not a GTE..

I love high mileage Supras, makes me proud, my 89 and 86.5 are at 255k+, and my 92's creeping up at 187k+...
