Define "low miles". That's a fairly risky sentiment when dealing with a +20 year old engine, let alone the fact that not too many original 'low milage' engines even exist.

Swap it yourself, you will save a ton and learn more. I did my first swap when i was 18, went into it completely blind, with only a hanes repair manual which is fucking useless for anything other than torque specs.. It will take you longer your first time, just take it slow and pay attention to what your doing, labeling vaccum lines and harness plugs makes things easier. You should be able to find a ton of DIY writeups for removing the engine/trans on here. Buy yourself a cheap engine hoist, and a good torque wrench and your good to go!

If you've got the knowledge, space, time, and manpower, then you should definitely do it yourself. You'll save a shitload of money and you'll learn more about your car. It's win-win!

For 4,000 dlls you could buy yourself a nice Mk3 supra. You could even get a 1JZ'd aor 2JZ'd swapped Mk3 for 4,000 dlls.

$4,000 seems a bit expensive for the package...

Does it come with any sort of warranty? What kind of guarantee is there behind this other than "low mileage". And again, define low mileage. Some say >50,000, others >30,000, and some would even count >100,000 as low mileage. It's more than 20 years old...you put 5,000 miles on it a year for that long and you're at 100,000. 5,000 miles isn't much in a year either, especially if it's a daily driver.

If you don't have the time or space to do the swap yourself, I personally would do a bit more shopping around. If you do, it's always good to do work yourself. Then you know EXACTLY what was done and how it was done. This makes it easier to do repairs yourself later. If you're worried about doing something wrong, just ask on the board, that's what we're here for ;)

I paid $1700 shipped to my house (lift gate service) for my 7mgte swap from TigerJapanese.com.

Do the swap yourself, it's really not hard at all.

If you do it yourself, pictures are worth a million words. Take detailed pics, before, and during the removal process, and you will always have a visual reference, as to where everything goes.

I got 3600. quote to do a removal of 5m/w58 reinstall 7mgte/r154 plus redoing wire harness, and ECU. I'm in N. Georgia I wish I had the balls to do it myself. I'm afraid I get impatient halfway thru the swap. 4000. may be a few dollar high, but the have specific SUPRA experience and a list of satisfied customers, you can argue over a few dollars. You may find someone cheaper, but do they know and care about your car. I'm not the cheapest in my industry and I'm the first to tell the customer that, but I am the best at what I do and don't rush thru a job b/c I'm concerned that I might have under bid.

I can do it for a few hundred, 600 maybe. Your just going gte right? I take it your 5 spd w58? Finding a motor is easy, a decent remaned could be around 800-1000. I bought a reman 7m for about a g. Tore it down and checked everything then added some special touches to it.

There's a few routes you can take on this, either of them has it's pros and cons.

Your car runs yeah? Keep running it and save your money up as you said. Don't jump on the first good sounding deal.

In the OP it said tranny swap so assume hes going to a r154. Remember all the little parts, ignitor, ecu, harness, intercooler piping, clutch, drive shaft, etc.. you'll have 2k+ in parts easy.

i will stay w58 if its not needed...when i go turbo im just gonna do an intercooler change, headers, exhaust, intake, afm, possibly fuel injectors. Is r154 needed?
