i have a 92 jza70 , i recently took it to the track (Had an awesome time) , On the drive home I started to notice a slight clicking coming form the rear ( like big rocks in the tread) ? since then it has progressed slightly.... it now make a Tin like grind when i turn low speed lefts? visually noting i can see , I think possibly the wheel bearing or axle or diff ? If someone might be able to steer me in the right direction or any advice , that would be GREAT!

I assume you have a japan imported car? The stock jza70 came with the torsen rear end and it is pretty weak. You've probably broken it. Find a MA70 rear end and swap it in (gearing will be different if you dont swap Ring and Pinion).

Wheel bearings will make a rumble sound while driving and will change pitch when turning and shifting weight....it will also cause the center wheel hub to get hot...

Info found ! ( for above post ) thanks

but i have a new symptom , maybe a little more helpful.

Today on the way home from work , i could clearly hear a humming coming from the rear, now its a very mild hum ... but its not a recognized supra noise ;( It only occurs during load , while coasting in neutral it goes away?? carrier bearing? LSD? fluid flush?
any more input would be greatly appreciated !

Thanks Bock

It could just be the hum of the rear end. You could try adjusting backlash of the r&p to see if maybe it's too tight or too loose.

It's probably your diff that is broken, the JDM ones like yours are notoriously weak. I had the same diff in my car and when it broke, I could still drive it, only I was getting a strange vibration, and the side seals were leaking lots of oil because metal shavings were chewing them up. When I looked inside, the diff carrier was sheared completely off the ring gear, but was jammed so tightly against it that the car would still drive.

Hard to see in the pics, but look closely, you'll see the sheared case where it joins to the main gear.
