3s is an awesome engine.. save weight and still make great power.. theres a reason why they were used in the jgtc cars

Thats funny, because it has more displacement, the 1jz is a direct bolt on, and is proven to go almost 1000hp on stock internals!!:evil2:

Go with your 3sgte and find an adaptor plate to bolt up a RWD trans and make it happen in a mk3 and then we are talkin' :biglaugh:

My buddy Bong swapped a 3S-GTE in his 1990 Celica Vert. That thing moves OUT! I'm super impressed, but I wouldn't put one in a MK3, too much weight.

I don't know of anything that was RWD that the 3S came in, I think they only came in FWD, and AWD cars iirc.

Correctly said - "The 3s is a baby 2j."

Very capable if BUILT RIGHT. Ive asked the question before over on toymods, and they all told me I was "Bloody out of my mind putting such a small motor in a large tank."

I personally say go for it, build the motor to make about 400hp and see how it turns out.

Wasn't there one of the Supra's in the JGTC that was with a 3SGTE, not sure if it was a A70 or A80... because they had V8s in the A80s too... but im sure i've seen one with the 3SGTE for its 'weight' benefits.

The 3SGTE was used in JGTC. Is more then enough engine to move a MK3. Reason why you would use this engine is for High speed runs, or great for JGTC. Were the speeds never fall do a crawling hault. If you are looking to make a 3SGTE in to a drag built engine in a Supra, you are using it for all the wrong reasons.

The 3SGTE was used by Top Secret for a top speed runs and it did it very well in the A80 body. Some of the Corolla guys here in cali have done this 3SGTE swap in AE86 corolla and used W5X's transmissions. The Altezza came with a 2.0 3SGE Beams engine. This was the Dual VVTi version and last years for the 3SGE. That 3SGE made the same power as the 2JZGE (215hp)

That just isn't true.

You can build a 1J to have 500hp/500tq if you know what you're doing, for example.

Poke around a little more, man. It's not hidden information :)

1. Jza71 701hp 521tq
2. 1JZpower 571HP 500tq
3. Turbo Drifter 550hp 450tq
4. Junior1J 548hp 440tq
5. MattOneDime 543hp 467tq
6. Zazzn 523hp 453tq
7. PM-Performance 508hp 501tq
8. Jwcatto 507hp 418tq
9. Becauseican 480hp 456tq
10. Suprahero 441hp 341tq

Look at PM-performance. Although how much torque an engine makes is related to engine size, the 1J is not an engine that has a "problem" making decent torque numbers. Even the other member's numbers are not bad].

Another example of a 1J with similar hp/tq numbers will be Jay, I think, once he gets a proper tuning device/tune for his car.

Btw: Yes, I got my turbos back. Expect some kind of update in a week or two, hopefully. :)

only problem with the 3sgte is the weight..... the last USDM 3sgte that came here topped the scales at over 400 lbs..... pretty heavy for a 2.0L 4 cyl turbo

also JGTC never used a 3sgte, it was a 503e.

I was going to use that 503 engine code, but most people don't know that. Thanks B.

hp/tq look damn near the same from the 7mgte / 1jz with after market singles ect.... now upgraded ct's make some killer torque on the 7m... but really besides that there is almost no diff in peak power/tq.
