I have just installed my 2J and now I would like to start it before running the wires nice an neat. Can someone help me as to what wires gets connected.

I know there`s suppose be an heavy 2 gage wire from battery positive to alternator and starter. But i need to wire up the ECU, ignition and alternator.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Andre

ha, good luck. it's really not as hard as you might imagine. best thing you can do is print out a copy of a 90 tsrm ecu wiring diagram and a 95 ecu diagram. there are stickies that have links to ecu pinouts, you will need those too. just get a multimeter and compare the two diagrams, you'll get it eventually.

Yes, thanks. I was just wondering if anyone had already done it so it would make it alittle easier.

what engine harness do you have? if you have an aristo look for Satan's thread about wiring peer review, the last few pages has all the info I have on it (i have gotten my buddys 88 to run on the aristo ecu & harness)

the ones i have circled are the ones you need from E10A. there are only 9 of them. the other plugs, E9... not much modification. it just goes to various engine components. the big block plug you need a few wires from. such as for the starter.

Great information above. Here is a very good thread also that Tissimo mentioned.

I am on my second swap - this time its a 1.5 but I am using a 2jzzgte aristo harness.

Here is a tip but more for someone who has doen it once :
I did not have to extend much of the wires on the harness but I did one before so this time taking shortcuts. I have also removed all TRAC and Automatic and turbo/wastegate related VSV stuff from the harness. After removing everything not needed, and the wiring casing, I was able to have my wiring reach he stock location. The harness is pretting long once everything is open.

I am not extending the wires near the ecu. I ma doing the extension closer to the plugs this time to keep the ecu area civilized.

Only things I am extending are -

- all the injectors, ( 12 wires )
- the B/O wires for the Power to the Injectors and ignitors/coil packs. ( two wires ) ( connects to B1 plug of the 7m harness

- H20, Oil , sensor wires for the gauge. ( M1 plug )

After looking at the 7m wiring diagrams and the Aristo diagrams, the signals for power and sensors work in the same way. I am using the 7m Harness connectors ( B1 , M1 etc ) and splicing the corresponding power wires to make it plug and play.

Also, I have the wiring colors mapped to the big square plug from the aristo harness . it has 50 something wires and most of them go to the Auto tranny/trac or Datalink connector.

Only So far I have used the starter wire, hydrofan wires , and the w20 sensor and a couple more , that's it.
I have a few more that I have forgotten about.

I’m doing a swap in my 1st gen rx7. My setup is just an Aristo 2J Auto. All I would like to do is connect the ignition, Alternator, Fuel pump relays etc.

What wires from the harness do I need to connect to get this thing going? All of my gages are Autometer mechanical so I don`t have to wire anything back to the dash.

I’m not to savvy when it comes to the electrical aspects, so any help is greatly appreciated.

If anyone is local, Fort. Lauderdale you can give me a call. 561 716 2678

Thanks,

Andre

Tell me if I have this correct. Wires coming out from the E10 Connector:

Pin 1 - connects to ignition switch
Pin 6 - Malfunction Light (check engine)
Pin 7 - Park/Neutral Safety Switch
Pin 15 - ELS Defogger Relay - ?
Pin 24 - M-rel EFI Main Relay
Pin 31 - +B (1st click of ignition switch, accessory) EFI Main Relay
Pin 32 -+B1 (2nd click of ignition accessory - on position) EFI Main Relay
Pin 33 BATT (12.5 volts Constant)
Pin 34 A/C amplifier ( is this for the fast idle cam when A/C is on,?)

What wire is for the oil pressure and water temp gage?

Is this correct?

the oil sensor wire comes from the big block and goes to the little connecter under the dash. you have to put the 7M plug on the end where it connects to the sensor as well as replace the 2jz unit with the 7M one. the water temp wire should also be on the big block plug

Swapping in an RX-7 . I thought it was a 7m as well lol.

Here's what I put together for the Aristo's body plug on the engine harness. Disregard my notes, just understand that it is 4 different SMALL connections, ported into 1 BIG connector/connection. The signals for each pin have been verified to be accurate by other members, so disregard wire colors and focus on the signal/pin for what you need. In most cases, like the black/orange, black/yellow, and black/red wires, they should be common Toyota wire-color-scheme, but may sometimes be different.

Also search here for "Wiring Peer Review" ...That's where we reviewed and troubleshot my power wire issues. Turned out my connections were good, but there was some hidden wire damage in my harness, which was wreaking havoc for a bit.

why is the els defogger required?

ELS : 9–14 VOLTS WITH TAILLIGHT ON, DEFOGGER ON
0–1.5 VOLTS WITH TAILLIGHT OFF, DEFOGGER OFF

What does that have to do with running the engine?

Is the A/C amplifier only required if your running a/c?

Is it correct in saying on a aristo 2jzgte engine harness you only need wires f1 signal for starter , f6 +12v for ignitor ect. , f12 for rpm signal from the jza147 aristo body harness that is attached with on the 2jzgte aristo harness.

I dont know the pin numbers because I hacked the plug off....I know that their are 2 black/orange wires that are connected to the same pin and they both need +12 for the ignitor and injectors I believe. I also energized another black/red wire that was the oxygen sensor power IIRC. Otherwise you just need the tach signal and starter signal

is it true that a 1jz-gte or 2jz-gte jdm (harness) will work with a 2jz-gte usdm motor? is it plug an play or what has to be modifed?

thanks
