I was thinking of crashing the Indiana Supra meet in may. Either that or crash DriftIndy's first event lol.

Well you me and toy fanatic are actually NORTH of Indy, I'm about 3 hours south of Chi and he's about an hour or so east of CHI

Hour and 20 minutes,I go to Chi rather often during the summer.

Well I just bought the engine, only things I will need are ECU, Power Steering pump (no way am I driving a 3300lb car without PS), alt (would have bought a new one anyway), mounts, and bellhousing.

Seems to be some cross information on whether a GS300's auto bellhousing will fit to an A340E anyways, so I didn't pick it up from them. Does anyone know if the GS300 tranny will work on a MKIII/Cressida? Guess I'll be looking for me some 5spd goodies before this swap gets completely underway. Has anyone tried AE86 pedals in a MKIII/MX83? I read somewhere that someone used 86 pedals on a MX73 with a w58 clutch.

just be simple and get mk2 pedals. when u start experimenting you make the project harder and u set urself further back from completion. as for a 5spd you need the flywheel and bellhousing from either a 5spd sc300 or mk4 non turbo supra.

Well the reason I asked about the 86 pedals, is I have 2 86s and access to about 10 others so the pedals would be very easy to come by. You said MK2 pedals, I thought MX83's needed MK3 pedals for the swap... Hmm, MK2's are easy to come by.

I used MK2 pedals for mine, but mine's MX63.I think the brake pedal is the only difference between MK2 and 3.MK3 goes to the left of the column,MK2 bends over the top and comes down on the right side of the column.

I'm going to call around to some of more distant local junkyards next week. I don't mind driving 10-15 miles to walk a junkyard just to find nothing, but 20-50 miles, I'd rather just call IF they know what they have. Also alot of the junkyards here recently have stopped allowing people to walk the lots unless they know you (insurance and theft reasons).

What all is needed for the 5spd swap? I know tranny, master cylinder, slave cylinder, pedals (preferrably brake AND clutch), and lines, but Driftmotion sells that Stainless line for the swap, does that replace all the lines or do I still need one. I also know I'd be better off just buying new master and slave rather than getting some ganky junkyard one. Not worried about bellhousing since the chances of me finding a jz powered MKIII in the junkyard is pretty slim, and 5spd sc300/MKIV na/s are gonna be extremely rarely found.

that driftmotion line replaces the mc line to the slave. and if u cant find a bellhousing u cant go 5spd. driftmotioin sells them or sell ur mk3 w58 then by a sc300 w58 tranny check supraforums or clublexus forums. look for the bell first cuz its the rarest and hardest out of everything to get and jz flywheel.

ERR I messed up in my last post, meant I'm not too worried about the bellhousing as it can be sourced on the forums or driftmotion, whereas I really don't want to pay shipping on a transmission.

So does the DM line negate the need for all factory lines involved in the clutch swap, or is there another line that I still need to get? I don't have either of my 5spd cars here to look at right now.

My JZX81 brackets from RIP Garage just came in today, engine is getting compression tested/leakdown/visual inspection today, will get a call tomorrow about when I can pick it up tomorrow. Also found an 88 Supra Turbo, that I'm thinking of picking up to steal the tranny out of, engine is overheating, so I may just slap my old A340E on the car and sell it as an auto turbo, and pretty much get a free R154 with everything needed for my swap except the JZ - R154 bellhousing.

About buying the bellhousing first, not always the best idea, since never know WHICH tranny you'll be able to get ahold of. So I think it would be better to get a tranny and then order a bellhousing.

Ok, I got the engine on the stand, got it completely torn down, got a gasket set with a TT spec HG. I understand stock I can run it off the 7mge's harness with just extending some wires to reach the different placement of things on the 2jz vs the 7m.

I have also acquired a set of 7MGTE 440 injectors, resistor pack, CPS, coil packs and ignitor I would like to use. Is there any way to wire up the CPS/Coil pack on the 7mge harness, or would it be better to switch over to 7mgte harness and ecu? I would prefer against running a standalone setup.

i used as much of my 2jz-ge electronics as i can with my cressida swap. found it easier. and since i got it from a sc3 5 speed, it came with a w58 and the harness is fucken long. even a stock 2jz-ge in a cressida is fun as shit.

Yeah, we recently pulled a 7mgte harness out of my wife's supra, and we were both amazed by the difference between the 2jzge and 7mgte's harnesses. The 7m is soooo dinky, and the 2jz is a huge freakin monster. I'm gonna start by trying to run it on the 7m electronics, and slowly peice together the rest of my 2jz harness and find a donor mx83 harness to splice into. Having 2 kids means I can't take my main car down for really extended periords of time (I have the GTS, but trying to load 2 kids into a 2 door 86 is not the most fun thing in the world).

Hopefully I get a call from my machinist early next week so I can get started on reassembly. And get the GTS back from the body shop so I can tune out it's little bugs and get my 7mge out of the cressida. Probably going to drive the wife's Supra for a little bit while I'm doing the 2jzge + r154 swap into the cress.
