I have been contemplating this swap setup for a while. Personally i think it should work. If you can go 2jzge NA-t on 7MGTE electronics then I don't see why you cant have a 2jzge running off 7mge stuff. Provided of course you wire everything up correctly.

it should work, considering there are a bunch of 7m NA-T guys using 7m-gte electronics.

Bad idea. It's possible but wiring and electrical glitches are THE hardest problem to solve in a car. Believe me, you can just buy a 2jz ecu/harness for less than $200 and call it a day and its SUCH a better way to go than cutting and splicing the crap out of your 7m harness.

You could just buy an AEM and 2jz harness and not worry about anything at all. Plus tuning is that much easier.

Boostin, I agree with you. but I can also relate with 91supran/a. The point is to get it running for cheap. If you have more time than money, I dont see why not. Again, provided that you know what ure doing when it comes to wiring. From what ive seen, It seems you can use 7M sensors on the 2JZ block. I assume ure gonna use the 7M AFM, so no modification required there. Injector connectors, dizzy, alternator,AC have to be adapted to 2JZ connectors.

Ill be honest. Ive never done this and have never seen it done. I have been SRSLY thinking about doing this since i am broke as F#$K!!!. lol And so ive been thinking about this swap route as well.

I remember reading somwhere that its gonna run rich and might require tuning.

What does everyone think? Thoughts anyone?

Well if your broke as F#$K you prolly shouldnt start the swap anyway.. we all knows what happens when you run outta money to pay for the soup. Rob a bank time.

Lol in all seriousness. The fact that the sensors are guaranteed different spec due to different motors, OBD1/2 vs. NO OBD depending, the fact that if you put a GTE aristo motor, you would have to switch over to coil on plug type ignition as the turbo 7m and GTE dont have dizzys.. there would be a ton. Not to mention the tranny situation.. the 7m and 2j do not have the same bell housings.. the 7m stock trannies will bolt up to 1jz bellhousings to your 2jz. so good luck finding those as you would need a 1jz bell for a w58, r154 or the auto tranny. Then comes the custom driveshaft. Oh forgot, stock 1j flywheel and clutch.

Basically itd be a clusterfu*k trying to get it running. Youd need more $$$ than if you just built a factory turbo 7m. but hey! go for it if you feel like bein autozone's biatch.

I have done it in to a 91 Cressida, and used all the 7MGE electronics. You will need some of the 2jzge connectors like TPS and distributor. You will have to use the 7MGE AFM and also the injectors. You will have to move some of the connectors around but if you have both engines out it will be obvious as to what connectors to move.

2jzge W58 bell housings will work for 7M W58. For auto trans, you will need the bell housing from a Auto tranny that was attached to the 2jzge. It's simple and cheap alternative to overhauling a 7MGE. I also had the EGR working, so the car would pass smog with no issues. I can try to get the car back in the shop so I can take a good picture of it.

Well there ya go. I would agree it is cheaper than doing a 100% 2jz swap.
