Ok I used the dreaded search and it did not net the results of what I am wanting to know. I am trying to figure out if this route for a 2JZ will even work. I found a fairly nicely priced 2JGTE with ECU, Harness, Turbos, and manifolds as well as the A341E that comes with it too. I have a 1990 Turbo model with the standard 7MGTE and A340E automatic.

My question is, can I make the A341E work in my supra with the 2JZ swap for lil hassle, I don't wanna go making custom parts because if I have to do all of that then I'll just go 6 speed of TH400 auto in it. If I can make the A341 fit up decent and work without a ton of extra shit then please tell me what I'd need to do it, not even sure if anyone has done this so I figured I'd ask, otherwise I'll end up doing a 1.5JZ or something of the sort.

The reason I wanna do this is, the auto mk4 tranny with a stall and some beefed up internals can handle a good gob of power as well as shift fairly nicely. I also don't wanna convert to a manual because of all the BS associated with it like cutting pedal holes etc. Anyways any help would be appreciated, I know you can build a 7M well but the JZ is much easier to work on and nets more power for the same money.

Thanks guys,
Will

you will lose ABS with the 2jz tranny as the jz cars use rear sensors for abs/trac and ours use the one from the trans itself. check out supras.nl he has a great way of useing both trannys

and there isnt any bs with cutting holes for pedals if you look closely next to the brake booster there is a hole for a clutch, and under the dash there is a pull away on the carpet that reveals the whole, check out my build thread its a 2jzgte + r154 into a 7mgte + auto car. all i had to do was buy a brake pedal and clutch pedal+what the pedal connects to

i would opt for the 1.5 jz personally and use the auto or the th400 (cause i like the th400:))

i think theres actually a way to use the non turbo auto and use an extension housing from one of our a340e's but i really havent checked that out yet. - neutral start switch might be diff as well~
i think 2jzgte uses the electric signal as well so you would lose speedometer~

another option is the suprastick with the 7m's a340e. you just have to wire the ecu to think its in neutral all of the time.

suprastick huh, never heard of that. So basically if I wanted to keep my autp I could just use the A340E on my 7M or swap to a A341E off the 2JZ but lose ABS and possibly the speedo. I need the speedo lol so that needs to stay, ABS isn't a big deal to me but it would be nice to keep it. I do appreciate this info on all of it.

My basic unanswered qwuestion is, does the a340e and a341e bolt up the same way, if not how are they different? Also the TH400 will it allow you to keep speedo and ABS and how much of a cost difference is there, I know the R154 works with the 2jz if you use a 1jz bell housing so that may be a cheaper way to go then modding the automatics. A lot to think about.

i havent looked at the th400 really but i doubt it would let ya :) dont need a speedo on the drag strip usually heh or abs.

its less work in my opinion to do the r154, i chose to do it because i already had all of the parts to do it.

as in bolt up to the bellhousing the same? believe so. i'll doublecheck the next time they are in front of me, not sure which torque converter you would use but i assume either as they looked the same, i didnt try test fitting the jz one on the 7m one because.. they are heavy heh

as far as crossmembers go you will need a new one with the 2jzgte's auto as well.

this website had something about the 2jz auto and the 7m auto and how to make them work.

the exact reason i went with the r154 :) also note, he is still using the turbo transmission and borrowing internals from the 7m's. also he is borrowing other components from the mkiv supra i couldnt get.

its a lot of work (suprastick wont work with it either) suprastick is used to replace the need of the ecu to have the transmission work, very useful if you are useing the a340e with a stand alone (ask IJ) or what i would think is best in this case, an a340e completely independent from the 2jz ecu.

Alright, well thanks guys, you answered my questions, I'll end up going R154 just means more money and work for me than I was hoping for lol, I'll never need to buy an MK4 because a 2JZ MK3 is the best of both worlds. I do appreciate the answers though, thanks a lot guys.
