2JZ NA-T on 7m Electronics question

Really 2 questions..

The easy one..
1. Say this is done, following advice in links at top of this forum, Can I still add the AEM EMS meant for the 87-88 Supra T and it will work as it should?

2. Why rewire completely.. Cant it be done with the 2JZ harness and just repinning the Body connectors and ECU connectors, using the plugs from the 7m harness? Basically just putting all sensor wires where they need to go and make it more of a pnp ordeal. Or is it the fact the 2Jz harness plugs locations are in the wrong spots? If so lengthen the wires then repin?

I dont have a 2JZGE yet but this swap is really interesting me over building my 7m. Its different but very doable. And will cut some of my costs down vs the full 7m build I was thinking, and still be as reliable as a built 7m.

Thanks,

1. Yes you can still use an EMS system. As far as the 7m electronics route goes, the computer and harness doesnt know that you have a 2jz.

2. 7m electronics 2jzge na-t doesnt mean alot of rewiring, I did it. Its just alot of extending wires. You have to run the harness under the intake runner so the knock sensor wiring reaches. Which means you have to extend just about everything else.

2. Yes or you could just repin a 2jz harness and use it. If you repin the harness then you wouldn't have to lengthen anything.

I have a big build thread of my 2jz na-t swap. Search, its called Reid's 2jz swap!

there is a write up on how to do it, search and you will find it. mine ran on 7m electronics but I ditched it for standalone so i could control the timing(it always worried me).

I know It can be done, I read the stickies in this forum. Just some things they do not cover.

Now heres another question.. If you can make a 2jzge run off 7m electronics, Then cant you do the same to a JDM 2JZGTE? Or any GTE for that matter (USDM or JDM 2j)?

Going JDM GTE route would provide me with the FFIM that is ideal, that seems to be the kicker for me on the NA-T build. Im no welder, so making a FFIM myself is outa the question and buying one... well hell they are pricey.

Im sure im gonna get "why would you run the 2jzgte on 7m electronics", but it keeps things simple, no complete wiring conversion, When I go AEM EMS, I would just order for the right year of car..etc, etc. I really see no drawbacks in doing this though.

With a 2JZGE you can use the 7MGTE CPS because the 2JZGE head has the provisions for it. With a 2JZGTE there is not a spot for a 7MGTE CPS, so you would have to use the crank angle sensor. I don't think you can use a crank sensor on the 7MGTE ECU. If you look on Clubna-t.com there is tons of info on GE vs. GTE.

Ahhh, Ok see I thought the gte had a provision of sorts for the 7m CPS, like the 2jzge does. Now that would be a problem.

Then what are people doing about the intake on the GE's that rests on top of the compressor housing (or very close to it) without spending $800+ on a FFIM. Like I say Im no welder.

I'm set on the 2jz in my mind, And I want 7M electronics..So I guess it will be a GE with a FFIM like from FSM.. I like theirs.

Going that route is about as expensive as buying a JDM GTE motor.
