DIY FTW. universal pipes cut and tape and have them welded at a place that welds aluminum. should be cheaper than a whole kit and you can use any intercooler you want

I actually found a jza80 front mount kit for the same price shipped as a universal kit. It comes with everything (couplers, mounting hardware, clamps, etc.) and has an intercooler with Greddy style end tanks. So far it looks better than anything else I have seen, so I think I may try it out.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

If you're looking for a cheap alternative for an intercooler kit, this would NOT be it, but I figured I sould explain in a little detail how I fit the JZA80 kit into my JZA70:

The kit, HKS R-Type JZA80 intercooler kit. 12x24x4" core, 2.5" piping on hot side, 3" on cold. Even comes with a power steering cooler relocation.

connection to the throttle body. This had to be cut back an inch, that was the only modification to the kit:

Not a terribly good picture, but this gives you a little idea of the space behind the intercooler. On top, you can see the custom bar I made to mount the IC to the stock mounts. It also replaces the hood latch support bar, which got in the way.

Here's where the piping with the kit terminates, just beside the alternator.

A small piece of pipe had to be fabricated to go from the turbo to the pipe here. Obviously the kit can't be 100% with every turbo.
