Are you sure its the idle valve? I bought one for my car a long time back (was like 300) and it ended up being the ECU its self not the valve.

At the toyota dealer they had this thing that would plug into the idle valve and you could manually control it. It had a power and ground aligator clip to the battery, the ISC plug and a Film looking box with a knob on it. You turned it to adjust the valve. Check your dealer and see if they have one of those and test your ISC before spending the 300.

Aaron is da bomb.
I say get one from Advance auto if they sell it. Put it on, and then take it back. You'll know the answer to your problem anyways. My local Advance helps me out like this whenever I need it. All they do is send it back.

It's probably not stuck open.. the valve is open when it sees no signal from the ECU.

the TSRM does specify a test procedure....it is the same procedure for the 7m and 2jz...so i assume it would be the same for the 1jz.

The 1JZ and 2JZ IAC valves have different mounting points. I was looking to maybe fab something up, if the flange did not fit onto the manifild. I will make some comparisons and take pics today (while doing some other work). I wouldn't recommend buying a new one until you know that it's what's wrong and that the 2J one will fit.
