Hi guys i'm Drew.
I currently own a beautifully clean 89 supra single turbo pretty much stock except for exhaust and intake. At this moment I have my winter beater a 90 mx6 gt turbo getting a new motor put in it along with all the stage 3 goodies from my last motor put back on the new one.

So I drove down to throw some money at my mechanic today so he can finish the job and it was his first time seeing my supra. He loved it and told me I should keep it as a classic cause he has never seen one in such good shape.
He suggested a 2jz swap into her for the additional hp i've been longing for in it.

Myself personally I was going to pull the 7mgte and rebuild her with some clev77 bearings, forged pistons, metal head gasket, sparco replica intercooler, BIG Turbo, stand alone and a bunch of other things to end up leading me towards 700 hp.

Now I am wondering about these 2jz engines because of the price of them being pretty cheap now a days.
I was curious as to how much hp I can safely achieve out of these motors from stock internals?

What type of things are people doing to get 700 or so hp out of them?
I figured about 7 or 8 g's would get me 700 hp with a 7mg, but if i can build her up for cheaper in the 2jz I would pic that rout instead.

Thanks.
DREW.

They crank the boost!

Itll cost similar probably. The 2jz isn't cheap by anymeans, Figure for a near stock swap (twin turbo etc) you're looking at ~5k, then add the goodies on top.

Thanks for the reply.
What amount of HP are the 2jz stock internals good to?

i wouldn't push it to much past 800-850.. at those levels the tune is the key (standalone with a good tuner) to block longevity.

Thanks again man.
800 to 850 hp on stock internals! WOW! Thats pretty impressive.
Well I am only aiming for 7 maybe 750 for hp so im well in the clear i'd say.
wut do u guys suggest for a stand alone system I have been looking at the AEM Engine Management System (EMS)??

I've been looking but can't seem to find what mods guys are doing to these 2jz engines to makes 700 or so hp on this site? Im sure there here jus dnt know where.

I will be doing these mods listed below to begin with but any advice on what else to do to achieve the most healthy 750 hp from a 2jz would be greatly appreciated.

LIST OF MODS:
- 3.5 exhaust
- divrsd downpipe
- sparco intercooler with hard pipes
- cold air
- aem ems (Feel free to suggest sumthin better)

What else is needed i.e. - injectors? Fuel pump? ? ???

Thanks again!

:icon_conf Big turbo cappable of flowing 80-85lb/min, fuel inj, pump, ignition (hks dli), clutch......the list goes on.

In all honesty and not directed solely at you but you need to search. There are 2 other threads just like this on the very first page of this section. You need to plan on atleast 5k for the stock swap alone and then 5-10K on the parts to make the power. Best thing to do is get on Supraforums and start reading up. There are 100's of 700+ hp cars (2jz's) on there.

On a 7m or any engine for that matter 700+ whp is no easy feat and you need to pay to play. I would look at Rods for the 7m if you are going for 700+ as well as head work and cams.

I have one question. Have u ever been in a 700hp car that's torque equal almost the same? If not shoot for 500hp first. I have alot of friends who have high hp 4 cylinders. Yes , the very top endes and fast but that lack something that these supra's tend to make alot of . That's torque. Either way u look at it either engine u go. It is going to cost denaro to achieve 700hp. So if I where u I would try to crank 450 hp out of my 7m first. Get use to that then go for 700hp in either the 7m or the 2j. I brought a 2jzge myself. Its cheaper, a little easier of a swap and the blocks are almost the same internally minus the pistons and oil squirters. I can go on and on but search alittle and u will find. If u are having problems with the search send me a pm I am sure I have some of these threads stored in my favorites.

Check out my 81 camaro on

youtube- drews camaro burnout or just click below to see the shit quality video shot a cell phone video recorder that does no justice to my car at all.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5FE7wjbgPo
It's my other summer car which is equipped with a LT1 350 bored .30 over with all the internal goddies along with high rpm intake, 750 Demon double pumper, msd 6a ignition with blaster 2 coil, 4core alum rad some head work all equaling up to a nice balanced hp going through a center force dual friction clutch & flywheel then trough a super T-10 all cast alum 4 speed tranny with 3:73 posi traced 20 inch foose rims throwing rubber to the ground. The car is fully caged along with frame connectors, traction bars and a extra hefty set of sway bars and a extra leaf stuck in to help her launch. To add to that I installed energy suspension all around the car and a nice set of nasa memory foam leather seats for comfort and snugness.

Also check out my fathers car through

google- petes 1971 nova. or just click below

which is a hell of alot faster car then my camaro.

So I have deff been around quick cars I have been on 5 hot rod magazine power tours and riden many a fast vehicals and that now is why I know what hp digits im after. I don't feel like i've felt enough. And trust me if there is sumthing im known for, most people would say my cars and my driving. Been driving racing everythins from go cars to sleds, bikes lots and started with carts and sleds at the age of five. I'm now 24 had my first 350 dun when I was 17 yrs old and now it's time for the big boys league.

I was just asking some quick questions b4 really taking some big steps in this supra project, especially since this is now my 3rd project on the go and at this moment mk3 is my daily.

I am getting my 90 mx6 gt turbo back tomorrow or monday from a friend of mines shop which just had a new f2t engine swapped into it with about 60 though km on it from japan. In that car I currently have these mods done to it:
- stage 3 dual friction clutch and pressure plate with stock resurfaced fly wheel and oem new through out bearing.

-New ecu with probinator ecu chip installed to eliminate boost cut and remap the comp to be richer in certain amounts of boost.

- I run the boost in this car at about 13 to 15 psi for now through a HKS EVC pro 3 boost controller for now do to needed fuel upgrades after about 16 psi or so.

- For turbo flow I installed a simple afm box adaptor plate with a cone filter on the end and ran a hose down through the fender and out by the intercooler in the front air dam alone with a 2.5 turbo straight back exhaust out back, a high flow cat and and magnaflow muffler.

-blaster coil, ngk plugs and wires.
- 88. stiffness motor and tranny mounts
-lock-tightened shift gate which these cars had a problem with rattling loose.

-Air fuel ratio, oil press, boost gauges set up a pillar for engine performance awareness and so on.

Not a cool car to begin with but man does she fly with about 3 G's of upgrades. My winter beater and probably my favorite car to drive cause of the torque under 15 psi of boost on such a light car. Very deceving car and sleeper for sure.

So after all that said i am just Wanting and needing more hp out of a vehical and want to become a high hp contender at some local tracks and enjoy this life while its on.

Thanks for the offer on the pm but I am sure I can find what i'm looking for with a little bit of effort and time. I must admit I was probably trying the lazy mans way of getting info by hoping for a cut and paster at best.

Thanks guys for your time and have fun.
