I hear you about pissing off the old timers... I'm all for it, but I'll paint "Chevrolet" on my valve covers if I do go 2j. ;)

Sounds like your build is a lot more serious than what I had in mind... love to see it all come together.

...but yea old trucks are so pretty its a shame that more people dont drive them
You might be surprised, it all depends on where you live. Up here, rust on vehicles is surprisingly uncommon. You could pull a 70 year old car out of the desert around here, weld in a few patch panels, and put it all back together and go for a ride. Don't see too many people driving these sorts of vehicles during winter though, for semi-obvious reasons.

I think I may go with good winter tires if I lower mine a bunch. If not, I'll probably stick with the truck axles that are on it now, and put some appropriate off-road tires on it. :p

I'd edit your post, but I'm not allowed in this section. Anyway, your pictures:

By the way, if you put
after the URL of a picture, you'll end up with the picture posted in your post. ;)

Edit: That truck you posted is damned gorgeous.

Hey Tommy, been a few months, what's the word on this build? I've made a small bit of progress on mine, made a small commitment as far as drivetrain donor... you?

Curious, I would be willing to bet the frame that came with our vehicles is quite similar, if not the same. I still need to measure my wheel clearances on the width to be sure that we won't need to cut anything on the frame. Yours look to be pushing the boundary on width.

Also, how were you attaching your subframes? Apparently the guy who will be doing mine suggested that we weld in tabs to bolt the subframes to.

I'd love to see what he's done with it since then, but unfortunately, he seems to have vanished. Last log in was July 10, 2012. :(

One of these days, we'll finish up my 48 Chevy, but that won't be until after the Supra is done. Then I'd have to find another daily, since the current daily is the Chevy's donor... Either way, really looking forward to next year, car-wise. :D
