to bad that wasn't a gte head,so you can use the 1j coil on plug and cam sensor's.
nice to see someone try this, most i've heard about this is hear-say.i've never heard anybody in the state try this.
does the 2j-ge head port's look bigger than the 1j?maybe a big set of cam's will help it breath and turn some big rpm's

2JGE ports look larger, but I haven't measured. I think the stock cams with this head flow a lot better than 1J head/cam setup stock for sure.

I really just want a motor I can rev the piss out of to help manage my anger issues....

I'm updating this whole thread goddamnit.

I'm still waiting on my cams Jeff. I called Crower and they said they were scheduled to ship out Friday evening. I ordered my SARD 540 injectors on Tuesday night and got them at my door this morning while painting parts for my car. That's some of the fastest customer service I've ever heard of.

Crower is hit/miss. Mine shipped faster than yours did. You're getting good stuff and those injectors will work for you perfectly. My 1JZ head is finally done, I have to pick it up on Monday. Yay...

can you put a forward facing plenum on it?
Its a better design!

lol i call my engine 1.3jz because it is loaded with 2jz parts with exception of only the block

modified tensioner is 2jz the under drive pully kit is for 2jz and the alternator and when i order some 2jz injectors and so forth it is why i named my mine a 1.3

I think a better name for it would be like they said 5.1 good idea!
Also since you have the same bottom end as a 1.5jzgte it will have 2.5 ltr displacement so it is a lot more 1jzgte then 2jzgte infact if you modify the valves on a normal 1.5jzgte to the size of about the 2jzgte and put the 2jzgte cams on a 1.5jzgte it is pretty much a 2jzgte.

maybe it would be best called a .51JZGE-T since it is pretty close to a 1jzgte you could round .51 or your engine out to be a 1jzgte and you have the same displacement.

for best results again get away from the intake going over the engine block there is a flaw with that design though not dramatic what happins is the air rushing through those will run the center runners more O² rich because they are most direct and closer to the opening of the butterfly where as the outside runners become more fuel saturated do to less O² on a NA car this is insignificant but when your boosting the effect with a turbo the air is under a higher velocity.

If you design a plenum from scratch remember the volume of the plenum is most efficient if it is equal to the volume of the engine so a 2.5ltr engine should have at least a 2.5ltr plenum but larger is ok the direct over the head design almost have no plenum of sort and runs air at a hi volume into your center cylinders.

If you notice when changing plugs you can tell this by the edge cylinders compared to the center ones.

EE1.3, good info, it makes sense ;) A lot of N/A to Turbo conversions have had no issues, and the differences seem minimal.

Remember, this is a "spare" engine, with parts we had left over. We are actually going to finish this engine first, and then move on to the 1.5JZ. We aren't going radical with this.

How hard is it to find a M12x1.25 tap??? Aparently, you have to buy a whole set. This is why I hate where I live. Everything is either standard, or the taps go from M8, M10, to M14.... WTF M12x1.25, where are you?

We also still haven't quite figured out the exhaust side coolant recirculating into the waterpump, which is stock on the 2JZ-GE head. This is by far, going to be the ugliest part of this hybrid. When I say ugly, I mean Fugly.... but functional.

I bought mine from a hardware specialty shop by itself.

The reason i bought mine the same size but a DIE though is because i wanted to thread a custom short throw shifter so i could put the factory knob on it. the die was top of the line hi quality & about $60 from a hardware/machine shop.

I can pick one up at the hardware store for you, I an needing one myself.
I don't think it would be more then $12 shipped.

Well, we called all over, and finally we found one... SEARS/Craftsman sucketh, you can't even order a M12x1.25, they don't offer one.

We called all over the place, and it was a company I never heard of, it was a needle in a haystack.

Alabama + Supra projects= FTL. When people ask me what motor I'm working on, I'm like, "Uh, I dunno how to say this so you'll understand, but it's two different Supra engines blah blah blah." Deer in the headlights! If it's not a Mustang or a Chevy 350, I swear, if I just say Supra they are in awe. I picked my head up from the shop, and the guy is like "why do you like imports so much, my mustang, blah blah blah........ that 1JZ head was a bitch to change the springs on, blah blah blah." Riiiiiiiiight.

These people motivate me, and so does SM!
I just want to say thanks for the support.

It's almost time for the 2.5 liter to flex it's muscle.

:biglaugh: I know it takes a lot more dedication for you guys to get these projects done in areas where Ford, Chevy, and Dodge are all anyone works on and sell parts for. But once you go out with that Toyota and smoke the Mustangs and Camaros there will be a big crowd of interested people around your little import!

yep im glad im not the only one that see's this by the way the ford focus is also the mazda 626 in a nutshell.

I think you should have no problem finding that die but yes it is verry annoying when you goto autozone and they have almost no metric fittings or hardware laying around unless its a replacement part

look in the engine dressup sections all they have is 350 sb stuff around
lol.

keep looking i know you can find that tap

Actually its the Mazda 3 is based on the Focus Floorpan, and the Mazda 6 is based on the Mondeo Floorpan.

The focus of course originated in Europe in 1998 - you folks got it a lot later, and from what i hear, you're still using the original Mk1 - we're already on the Mk2's and have been for a while now.

Oh - and the focus uses Metric fittings last time i checked ;)
