I am running 245/50-16 all the way around, my second set at that. I had one small issue with a screwhead the cut a nick in the front passenger tire so I removed the screw and slowed the heck down going in and out of driveways. I love the taller tire as now I can make it across the stinking intersection without having to shift into seond gear. They also make better gas mileage I would guess since mine seems to have gone up a bit especially on the freeway. I think this tire size is a better match for the stock first gear ratio.

I buy all my tires at Discount Tires after I have got a price from tirerack.com then use that to get Discount to match it. I have bought tires directly from Tirerack also and had them shipped to my daughter in the military in Alaska since they wanted like 200.00 per crappy tire up there. I bought her some Goodyear Aquatread Rain tires for 69.00 ea. Tirerack 2nd day Fedexed them up there for 55.00 for all 4.

Its been a few weeks. I went and tried to put the tires on but they just wouldnt "pop" on the rim all the way. So i took them back and got some 225's and tried to have them put on, but once again the same thing happened with the 225's as the 245's they wouldnt pop on the rim completely.

So im stumped on why two brandnew tires won't go on. My next guess is to try to take them to place of purchase and have them put them on.

hey i dont really want to call this on or off topic but it is a cool tool to use when changing tire sizes http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

nice link, ill consider it medium topic, lol

One thing that the lik brought to my attention, is standard and metric size.

Ima make the assumption that my problem has been the store gave me the wrong sizes twice. They were standard size 225 and 245/50 16's, and i Need a metric 225 or 45/50/16.Somebody correct me if im wrong, but thats what im thinking.

I dont know about the metric question but I put a link to goodyear so you see what the tire specs are for the Goodyear Eagle F1 245/50ZR16's I run they fit perfectly and I run the Toyota recommended air pressure for uniform wear. I do pump them up to 40 psi when it rains due to the fact I have found tires grip better in the rain when inflated higher.
