What I don't understand is why so much on toyota? What about the countless recalls that have killed A SHIT TON more people from ford or GM?
Anyone remember the firestone/bridgestone SUV issue?

I remember both. I had no experience with the Ford/Firestone myself. But, GM killed many with their Anti-Lock Brake cover up, and I had plenty of experience with it. I was responsible for a fleet of 11 vehicles, that 9 of which swapped out every year and a half. I couldn't give you exact time frames, but probably for the better part of 1995-2000 we had numerous problems due to their ABS system. As a group, we had 3 vehicle accidents (none were mine), and every one of my drivers had experienced stopping problems more than once. I drove a vehicle (S-10) that I knew well enough to replicate the problem. If you applied the brake at virtually the same time you hit a bump in the road, you would free wheel several car lengths with no control. I took it to the dealer, and demonstrated the problem. I left there with a pamphlet telling me that most people did not know how to properly use the brakes. I saw several TV specials regarding the problem, where GM officials tried to pull that same crap on the public. It pissed me off to no end every time. I believe they finally corrected it a couple years after I left the company in 2000, so probably 2002-2003.

My bro wrecked his S10 because of that shit. Totalled it and nobody wanted to pay. Year later they had the recall and he could find a lawyer to take the case...

Also, you couldn't have a cable driven throttle on a hybrid...

Agreed, it seems like people push the brakes to slow down instead of to STOP thus overheating them and making them fade (like morons).

The LPG Carb I was running a few years back was prone to this when pressurised by a Turbo as the throttle blade was offset to the wrong side so boost would hang it open......

500+rwhp and a stuck open throttle makes an interesting ride, never once was even almost close to crashing though.

We recently had a case here where some numbnut travelled 50Km's on a freeway as the Cruise Control was "stuck" and the car wouldn't stop....

They tested the car later and found nothing wrong, another case of "15 minutes of fame"..

Besides that the new prius already has a brake override in it where when the brake is pressed it overrides the throttle automatically. He picked the wrong car to try and BS people with; though fortunately enough for him it seems the masses are still stupid enough to carry along.

These are my views and observations and not those expressed by Toyota, etc etc.

Toyota and the NHSTA guys can't replicate this guy's problem...and they said the guy was pumping his brakes rather than stepping on the brakes with two feet. wtf?? and he has the time to pick up the phone and dial 911, rather than think about his predicament. Now he wants a replacement vehicle? what so his dumb ass can get back to driving on the road? unbelievable!

i smell another "balloon boy incident" in the horizon

There's so much bullshit orbiting this Toyota shit-fest I don't know where the head starts and ass ends. The only thing I know for sure is that a vast majority, if not even every single one, of the 58 people "killed" because of Toyota, didn't have a fuckin' clue how to drive.

And I flat out agree, all of this could be avoided with a 3rd pedal, commonly known as a FUCKING CLUTCH. It pisses me off to no end that the auto industry has an obsession with automatics, manu-matics, semi-automatics, sequantially shifted electronically controlled manual transmissions... and a plathora of other bullshit names to call an automatic transmission. I want a fucking clutch, a fucking gear shift, and a god damned clutch pedal. Is that too much to ask, a car that you drive, not a car that drives you? I'll keel over in my grave before I buy some pussy assed flappy paddle shifted garbage scow. Dear auto industry: Go fuck yourself, and your automatic transmissions too.

Sorry, been a rough day.

That was the best video I've seen in a year. If only I didn't have to wear the uniform at work, I'd be telling this to 4/5 people who come into the dealer. Absolutely insane what people want their cars to do. It just doesn't stop.
