I mean seriously guys...straight line performance is what most of us use 90% of the time.

Neither one of these cars were built, engineered or marketed for 99% of the demographic of this forum. A large portion of the buyers these cars are intended for will not race them period, let alone take them down to the 1/4 mile track and line up next to a fox body beater...

Owners of these cars do however have the cash/time to take it out on a circuit track and really apply the cars for what they are engineered for if they so choose. Even though 1/4 time is a prominent benchmark test, neither are truly designed for drag racing.

This thread is becoming more and more pointless, and going nowhere fast (kind of like Ford and their bailout :biglaugh:)

Yes the ZR1 is faster than the first production version GTR, but is that really a big surprise? It has 535rwhp compared to 406 awhp of the GTR....

The better question is why are they even comparing these two cars? Is there not another production vehicle more comparable in price, horsepower, weight, motor, etc to the GTR???? Guess not.... Give credit where credit is due. Its a neat machine, as is the ZR1.

LOL @ the GTR being 80k. Everyone up here has sold for over 100k, some closer to the 130k range.

retail price was less than 80,000, thats a fact and what I was reffering to. That inflation happens alot when there is limited availibilty and high demand. The same thing happened to the Challenger which I sooooo wanted and would have been able to afford the retail tag, but the street price skyrocketed because of demand. Could happen to the ZR1 too.

GM will just 'reorganize'...

ZR1 sells for MSRP everywhere...from talking with a Corvette sales guy at work the other day(we are right across from a big dealer at work), they are order only and are direct pricing from factory and price is strictly monitored. So overall price includes shipping and dealer markup(which is not much) to give the dealer money. I am sure they are selling for a little more than MSRP but not 20k over like the GT-R.

I didn't realize how close MPG was...not that I would are if I bought either.

More like GMs bailout...Ford has the biggest chance of coming back stronger. Either way...all three are in deep doodoo.

The next performance car I would buy, when I can, would be a Viper, as the prices are dropping to TT MKIV levels for ones around the same year. I don't see myself ever in a place to drop 100k on a car, especially seing how I do not own the house I live in.
