Ok I have been pondering this for a while but have not found any useful info on it so I will ask here.

I have a 100 Mark II Tourer V (posted in my intro thread) Now I want to buy the AEM EMS for it I have not found any info pertaining to this situation. I know a whole lot about the 1JZ Non-VVTi and I am very experienced with the power FC It is cool and all but I hate Mass Air Flow Sensors and as most of you know the VVTi has MAF. I am an eletrical GURU so wiring it up is not a problem. The questions are WHAT PROBLEMS ARE PEOPLE HAVING USING THE SUPRA AEM PnP FOR A VVTI ENGINE? Why is the info that some people have not posted up?

I prefer the resolution the AEM provides over the PFC and I want to go MAP vice sticking with the MAF the D-Jetro PFC for the Soarer is a choice I have but I would rather go with AEM.

Just so you Know these are the keywords I type in the search for those of you who say search is your best friend.

1JZ VVTi AEM, 1JZ VVTi, AEM, 1JZ VVTi Standalone there are more but can't remember.

:1zhelp:

Any Info would be helpful

Cam control I think will be the main issue, no matter what, IF that is your reasoning to go VVT-i. I imagine, I would then want to tune the cams, and can imagine how much more tuning I would need total. Some tuning for the air, fuel, ignition timing, more for cam timing to work properly.

I will have absolutely nothing to do with AEM at all, so I don't know if it has the ability to control cams or not.

VVT-i has been discussed before on Supramania, and while on paper it will work great to produce an awesome powerband vs. standard cams with the same power adder, getting it to work is a cost per horsepower situation.

Ok Just so that everyone who did not Check out the intro My car come from the factory with the VVTi engine, On another note I will not use the VVTi portion of the cams I will go with Tomei cams with Adjustable cam gears,

I only asked these questions because I seen someone had to solder some stuff onto the ECU or something to that effect if it is just the VVTi holding it back I am golden and will go with it. All I need is a pin out for the JZX VVTi ecu ( which I have)

from what I've heard, the main problem to get the AEM to work with a 1jz-vvti is that the crank trigger wheel is a missing-teeth type and to get that to work with the AEM is quite a pain.

the vvti however can be controlled nicely with the AEM

I don't have hands on experience with the vvti, but if you need more info, contact arnout@supras.nl, he's done this and I got this info from him (he's a good friend of mine)

Yeah I talked to him already he was trying to sell me something I did not need, maybe I did not ask my question to him correctly but what you answered with sounds like a start. If not I will just go with the MOTEC M800, I would perfer the AEM as it is what I am looking for....(Price, Options, etc.)

how much power are you planning on making? was going to say there is always the map ecu 2 but you seem like you want to outgrow that real quick (seen supras with over 800hp with them)

Once I get the engine nice and broken in I was thinking T88-38gk (greddy) so maybe around 900 ish I mean I am on an island no longer than 67 miles long and no wider than 15 mi at it's widest point. But it would be fun to have But I will have to look that up Map ECU 2 hmmm

If you're an electrical guru then I'm pretty sure you will be wasting $700ish on the supra pnp version... Btw, you have my dream car.
