1jzgte harness extenstion question

I'm doing a 1jz swap into my 90' 7mge body soon and I've heard that the 1jz harness ecu wires do not need to be extended if put through the drivers side of the firewall but that the body plug wires do.

My question is if anyone knows for sure if the 1jz harness body wires are shielded?

Body harness wires are not shielded. But they do need to be extended to about a little longer than the Ecu wires iirc.

I would just extend them while you are in there and do everything right. Previous owner of my car cut a new hole in the firewall where you are describing and ran the harness behind the dash in what seems like the shortest way possible, the ECU hardly sits in the glove box at all, I definitely can't secure it anywhere normal. Also the harness ended up rubbing the firewall where some insulation was missing on the metal edge and shorted out my AM2 fuse repeatedly, it was great. Also if you don't seal the hole extremely well, you will smell all sorts of great engine smells all the time.
On the plus side, I can hear my engine better than I could without the hole directly in front of my crotch in the firewall piping in noise.

I definitely wouldn't do it to a DD, IMO. I don't really care because my car only has to do one thing well, go real real fast.

run the harness.through the drivers side and get it to the glove box. then worry about the body harness plugs. I would do it because you dont have to cut any wires, and it looks clean in the engine bay. just cut the right size hole and you wont have any problems.
