I never had a hg problem on my 7m. I also had a hks metal hg and arp studs. I two brought a 1j but it was because it was a updated motor. I hear some people talk about the lack of torque but my swap isn't done so I couldn't tell you. I do know that the 7m requires a little more care. That is all I can say for now.supra_fast said:i was contemplating buying a supra with a 1jz, 91 300zx twin turbo, or a 91 or 94 3000gt. pretty much looking for the fastest car. iv owned a supra with the 7m turbo and i really liked it minus the unreliability of it. it was always broken down. iv heard the 1jz is a much more reliable engine. i blew my head gasket twice and gave up on it. if you guys have any thoughts about what i said i would love to here them.
thanks

300zx= expensive but good cars
3000gt= eh why not go buy a boat
280hp - 232hp does not equal 100hp.RHDMK3 said:It's my understanding that the 1JZ is capable of mid 14's in the 400M ( about 1/4m). It makes logical sense to me because I read somewhere that the 7M was rated at 15.0 stock. 1JZ puts out almost 100 more HP then the 7M. So the mid 14's seems realistic to me. A lot of it though depends on weather conditions, driver abilities, tires, etc, etc......
