If you do a lot of highway pull your best bet for better balance will be 3.91. But if you want to go insanely fast like me get a 4.3 ... :burnout:

always on the same page.. If I didnt constantly use the highway, a 4.3 lsd would be in my future.

I swear I think it's your mission to read and to reply to every post I make. A 1jz @ 12 psi on 2nd gear with 4.3 lsd is like speedy gonzalez on steroid. :naughty:

I have sourced a diff locally now. Its a 3.73 :icon_bigg Just gotta get the son of a bitch installed now. Any tips? Also are there any sort of seals or anything that I should replace while the thing is out to ensure I get as much life and performance out of it as possible. I only want to swap it once. Thanks!

i used to run a 4.30 LSD with my first single setup, i spun 255 tires up into 4th gear. it was pretty retarded with the acceleration.

now that im a biggety big turbo, ive opted for a 3.73 (gotta keep up with the local single mkivs on the highway) also it helps out on the highway mileage with the lower rpms

Currently I'm running a 4.56 LSD with mine, insanely quick off the line but there is way too much wheel spin, should be interesting when I get it back. Only problem I had with my 3.73 LSD was that it died. Once I get it rebuilt it will be going back in, from the seat it felt like the 3.73 was quicker overall because I didn't loose as much time changing gears and sliding all over the road.

how much power are you making? 3.73 might feel a little long in the later gears, where a 4.30 will rip all the way through fifth even on stock twins. i'd say go with the 3.91's for good overall economy and performance.

it's usually easier to just source it as a whole unit.... and once you've swapped em a few times, it becomes a fairly simple job :)

just make sure you have a good trolley jack to lift the new one in with... it also usually helps to drop your exaust...

Thanks for the tips. I'll have the help of a very knowledgeable supra nut so I don't imagine I'll have too many bloody knuckles or curse words coming out of my mouth after everything is said and done. One quick question though: I always notice that diffs look like hell under the car so would it be a good or bad idea to give the outer shell a quick sand and then throw some black paint on it?
