1JZ will not drop in- please help

WOW!!! and i thought i had trouble with my install... all i had to do was loosen the mounts on the motor and the frame... but then again i have an 87 (square mounts) so it's probably different

Exactly, which leads me to believe that I must have the wrong hardware. I'm using the DM's round motor mounts, with the stock 1JZ brackets that came on the motor, trying to bolt them up to the mounting face I have pictured on page 1, post #6. My car was manufactured July 89. So does that mean it's an 89+? If so, then shouldn't I be able to use the combination I just described, or do I need different brackets for the motor?

Easiest way to tell is to look at the motor mounts that were on your 7M. Were they square (86.5-88) or round (89+)?

The brackets are definitely from a Supra, you can see LR-A on one of the pics, A = Supra Chassis. The subframe appears to be correct as well.

I know when I've dropped mine in, that last half inch was always a pain. Lots of wiggling. Hopefully you can figure it out, keep us posted!

I placed a moving wooden dolly under car just about below bellhousing area lowered transmission tailpiece till it was on dolly at an angle then lowered engine/transmission while pushing lift which guided assy. in place. Was real easy.

It was a combination of how I was approaching it. I had the rear of the car jacked up and was trying to put the motor in with the mounts attached. Kruso and I jacked up the front of the car, removed the mounts, slipped it into place, put the mounts on the motor, and bolted them right up. It was silly how easy it was to do that way compared to how I was approaching it. Here are some pics, sorry for the cell phone quality, I will get real one's on here after this weekend:

I had the same problem with my 7m & round mounts. I couldn't get the mounts to drop in position by myself. I had some friends with experience come and help me man handle it in.

Congrats on the install. Looks good. It's always nice to have people around your area to lend a helping hand.
