1JZ vs 7M 89+ Rubber Engine Mounts

I found out today that the 1JZ and 7M engine mount(the rubber portion) are different sizes. The 1JZ mount is about 1/4" shorter than the 7M part.

Below is a picture of my busted 1JZ mount and the 7M replacement I was going to use:

Also, is there any issue with using one 7M mount and having the engine slightly higher on one side? I only have one replacment at the moment.

You can look at the bottom and it looks like their is a quarter of an inch difference.

i dont think a 1/4" will make much of a difference, but what do i know..

Nah, it was actually in really good shape before I broke by prying on it to get the engine in place. The 7m mount is definitely more used. If you look at the two mounts they are just different in design.

Yeah to me it just looks like the 1J is broken. Considering how much your engine flexes I really don't think 1/4" matters.

I took a pic from a different angle so it's more obvious. You can see the 7M mount tapers more and then has a bit of a 'neck' before reaching the bolt. The 1JZ mount isn't as thin and is slightly shorter.

my car has a solid mount on the turbo side that is made for the 7m.you can't tell much differance in the car(visual)

They are different part numbers, though they are pretty close, they're slightly different.

Go with the mk4 mounts and never have to change one again.
