Hi All
Currently I'm running 1JZ in my R32 with some modification on subframe. Means the Custom engine mount rubber from Volvo with stock 1jz engine mount bracket.
Last I bought 2jz Chaser & plan to swap with my existing 1jz. My concern is
1. Can I use back my existing 1JZ engine mount rubber & bracket to avoid any modification on subframe.
2. IF I'm using the 2JZ engine mount rubber & bracket,I have to re-modify the Subframe.

Hope I can get the advise & info. Thanks in advance

Honestly i think you might need to make some changes but maybe a custom engine mount would be easier then changing the sub frame again.

I don't know of anyone on here that has a 1J or 2J is a Skyline body.

My memory is not that great but possibly someone with a 2J who has had a 1J can chime in about any difference between the two mounts

If the bolt patern & dimension on both block are same accept 2jz higher an inch so I can use back the 1jz engine mount bracket & custom mount rubber.
Anyway I'm still have to modify the auto transmission mount due to my existing 1jz using manual transmission R154.

1Js and 2Js have the same rear bolt pattern. Whatever fits on the back of a 1J will fit on the back of a 2J. Many people use an R154 with both engines. As it was stated earlier, the pretty much the only thing you will need to be worrying about going from a 1J to a 2J is the 1" gain in height of the motor. All the mounting points, including the bellhousing and flywheel mounts on the back of the engine are identical. Good luck with the swap.

As we know the 2jz block higher 1" due to the stoke size. What about the transmission height?
Currently with my 1jz I'm using r154 MT & will convert to 2jz with AT trans.
As the block higher 1" should be enough room for this issue but for r154 clearence are close to the trans. tunnel around 1" also.

The R154 & a340 are roughly the same size but use a different driveshaft.
I would try and keep the R154 it keeps things fun and simple.
For the auto you also have to add an auto cooler unless your radiator has the provisions.

You already have an R154 on the 1J.

All you have to worry about dimension wise is that the overall height of the 2JZ is 1" higher than the 1JZ. So does your hood have another 1" of clearance?

The motor mounts are in the same location on both blocks.

The R154 you have on the car now is a non-issue. Its position will not be changed by swapping in a 2JZ, the mounting pattern on the back of the 2J motor is the same as the back of a 1J motor. Anything that will easily bolt up to the back of your 1J will easily bolt up to the back of the 2J.

I know, it seems too easy doesn't it?
All you really need to be worrying about is hood clearance as the 2J is a taller engine.

Hi Frankenstien
Thanks for the clear info. For 1" clearence in engine bay is not the issue. What I'm worried is the transmission height between r154 & A340e only. Since both are almost same size, I will try to swap by this weekend.

I will run with a340e till this transmission death than swap to r154. I bought the Chaser front-cut come with AT oil cooler. Just transfer it to my R32.
