Besides Driftmotion where can I get a thermostat. I don't see paying 20+ for a thermostat and its not even failsafe. Can I use one for a 2JZ?

not an unreasonable desire at all...
with that said, i think it is better to get the toyota tstat (which driftmotion sells).
i was under the impression that the toyota thermostats do fail open?
Cya, is there a reason why you say they dont?
Cya;921219 said:exactly.
I wasn't sure it did, it isnt advertised like most thermostats are. $20 bucks for a thermostat is still unreasonable even if it is a genuine toyota part. I was just looking for an alternative since after shipping it would be closer to thirty.

failsafe thermostats fail open and cause your car to run as if it does not have a thermostat. not allowing it to reach operating temperature. if you get a regular toyota thermostat it is not a failsafe. if it fails it fails in closed position and will overheat your engine. on thing i have learned from being a mechanic if you get a cheap failsafe it will stick open even when your car isnt overheating, which causes you to have to pull the thermostat out and reset it all the time.

They're used in other North American vehicles including (it's already been said), the MKIV.
I've never seen a Toyota thermostat fail closed.

but it is what it is unfortunately.
