Hey guys i have a question i cant seem to find the answer to. I did my 1j swap on my na chassis its an 89 my 1j is from a soarer but i put a jza70 harness and ecu . My problem is my rpms dont work, when i start.the engine my mph guage goes up and sits at like 20mph on idle and as i rev it goes up so its opposite its working like a tach. Now from my understanding the mph is something mechanical driven by the cable behind it. .now im sure i did.the wiring correctly a i copied it off my freinds car thats all functioning correctly but hes a turbo chassis. .i know i have to swap my cluster for the turbo one becouse of.the resister but i thot that only affected the acuracy of the tach as in being a couple rpms off not that my mph would act as my rpms? So is that normal for the rpms not to move at all in the na tach? Thanks in advance

I think cars with the digital dashes had electronic speedo senders. I'm on tapatalk so I can't see your details but is your car JDM or Australian with a digi dash?

yep, my current trans had the digital sender (for digi-dash) in the side of it when it arrived from J-land.

Is your driveshaft installed?

Because if it's not the fluid drag in the transmission will spin the output shaft (and speedometer cable) even if the shifter is in neutral.

If that's the case then your speedometer is working normally, and not like a tach.

Get a turbo cluster and see if the tach works then. If not check your wiring.
