that sounds like the map sensor then, when you pull the plug on the map your engine will die or idle like total crap.

check the volts on it just to be sure! the green wire is signal to.

well I got some bad weather heading my way so don't look like I will be doing much work to it today. Any suggestions on a map sensor, i really don't want to buy a used one.

No its not the ECU either.check engine light still on but now just code 31- air flow meter signal. I'm about to check voltage at the MAP. will post when done. thanks again guys.

Find which one is the signal, and post the voltage readings:
Key on, engine off,
Engine running,
And post the actual running vacuum reading.

Key on engine off- 2.63v
engine running- 1.64v
vac reading at idle- .47 - .49

thanks again man.

yes that vacuum reading is in bar, but according to that website .47 bar is 6.8 psi, and .49 bar is 7.1 psi. not for sure if thats a good thing or not. But not to forget it did this on me the first day I had the car, but after leaving the battery off for almost a week it ran fine for 4 or 5 days and then started again. As for engine codes:

**31 Air Flow Meter Signal** (i guess this is for the MAP sensor, since it doesn't have an AFM please correct me if i'm wrong)

Diagnosis

* (7M-GE) Open circuit in VC signal or short circuit between VS and E2 when idle contacts are closed.
* (7M-GTE) Open or short circuit in air flow meter signal.

Trouble Area

* Air flow meter circuit---what is this where is it at and how do i check it???
* Air flow meter---??????
* ECU-----tried swapping this out for another didn't work

This is all off of Cygnus X1.

Although when i went out to take these videos it wasn't acting as bad. It would rev a little higher but start spitting and backfire at 4k. and the vacuum is at .57 and .58 bar my bad.

why is your gas gauge to the right of your speedometer?

what????/ thats were the belong, lol

it seemed to rev fine to me, were you trying to go above 4k. idle seemed to be kinda low, most are around 700 rpm's.

ok so i'm gonna buy a new map. when i tested the sensor with a vacuum pump i wouldn't hold vac like the diaphragm is broken. so we will see what happens then.
