I dont want to saulder or ne thing.... What if any are some issues i will run into if he swaps the motor and i do the wireing????

Theres a special harness that one of the vendors on here makes so that you could just plug n play but i think it retails for $850 , modding the harness would probably be cheaper but not as easy.

Yes. The 1JZGTE is for a RHD car. It's pretty obvious the wires are too short to directly fit a left hand drive car without mods. Also pinouts need to be changed due to JDM having digital cluster and USDM being analog, among other things.

I have my harnesses modified by a professional car electrical shop for $500, and it takes a month. Each wire is ohm checked, soldered, and ohm checked again. Just buy the jumper harness and never have electrical issues, ever.

you can pass it through the speedo cable hole in the firewall but you'll need to make the hole bigger to fit the harness, then all you have to do and pin out the body harness.

you should've read up on the swap more before you purchased the motor set

Be smart, cut a whole (shown in the first picture) & route your harness behind the radio. make your jumper harness long enough to reach & you won't have to splice the engine harness. Also, you'll need to cut the plastic piece on that holds the engine harness on the motor (it makes the harness turn upwards, located on the backside of the intake manifold, shown in the third picture). This will give the additional harness lenght needed for it to reach to the stock ECU position....

My harness is routed as rakkasan describes. Make sure if your doing it that way that you put the harness through the hole before dropping the engine in. Also installing the harness and doing the wiring is infinitely easier with the dash out. Using this method there are only 30-some odd wires to extend. The 1jz harness shares some plugs with the 90+ dash wiring so you can simply extend those if you like, but there is only one plug that will not have to be repinned. It is possible to fabricate the other plugs needed using common toyota connectors. However, unless your really pressed for time like I was I suggest going the jumper harness route.

EDIT: With an 87 the plugs are nowhere near the same style and pinout as the 1jz harness. Get someone to build you a jumper harness.

lol for you thinking you could just plug and play. Get ready for the wiring.

Its pretty damn easy although, look at the diagram unpin one wire repin in new connector...

I agree with the speedo hole, thats what I did no extending harness..

The small jumper harness is a piece of cake use ricks site to match the pin outs on the jumper harness its the http://1jz-gte.us/ site!

it is about 15-30 wires depends if you have options like hydro fan, ABS, AC, Oil Level Monitor Computer.

I trimed mine down pretty good.

to build your jumper harness keep the 7M EFI Engine side to body connectors and splice them to the JZA70 Body Side of the EFI connnectors the only wierd part about the jumper harness when going through the speedo hole is you need to keep your heater VSV for your water line in the little jumper harness and pull it through the original EFI hole (only 2 wires) so your heater works but no biggie.

Going through the speedo hole can get your car on the road a couple weeks faster & maybe you wont blow your ecu up making a mistake because its pretty much factory and saves a lot of time & money.

I cut a hole through the firewall where Aaron told me too and it worked great. No mess with extending the harness!!:icon_bigg

So... Just slide the harness through the jhole and plug it into the ma70 outlets... No harness cuting or extending????
