1jz swap no start

Hi guys,

I'm finishing up a 1jz swap into a sc300. Anyways, about a week ago I finished. Went to try and start it nothing. Turns out no spark and no fuel.

Since then Ive tried 2 different ECU. I checked the crank sensor and cam sensors which were all good. I'm getting voltage to the igniter and to the ecu. I'm getting voltage to the coil pack wires and the coil pack are in good condition and have good resistance.

I tested the igniter today on a friend car, it fired right up. So igniter is fine.

I'm thinking its a wiring problems. I've also added more grounds still no spark.

Also about the knock sensor with using a USB cable which one was that exactly? Also that wouldn't matter for starting would it?

I'm not getting voltage at the ign wire on the ecu when the key is on the 2nd on position. Anyone know if I am suppose to get voltage there when the key is on?

Might be a long shot in the dark, did you check all your fuses.

Fuses are all fine.

Time to go wire-by-wire through the engine harness and make sure each wire is going from the right place and ending up at the right place! Have fun!

Dont rip out the harness just yet. I did that and that was not my problem. I had the exact same symtoms your having. Turned out it was my ecu. but you said your not getting voltage at the igsw right? Here is a ecu diagram.(curtisy of yotarob)

These are the pins you need to check, Red is constant 12v, Green is 12v with ignition on, Black are grounds.

Check those wires mentioned above and also check that your engine light is coming on when you turn your key that will tell you if your ecu is working. GL

Constant 12v has no voltage what so ever. Even with key on. Wire BATT has voltage even with no key and with key on and the other wire is fine with the key on, no voltage with the key off.

Basicly no voltage at the +B1 and +B with key or no key.

I would hook up a 12v source with fuse in place just to be on the safe side and so you dont blow anything and see what the car does.

look for damage on your ECU? ive seen some that were pretty bad

I've tried splicing a 12v source to the +B1 and +B, still nothing. Cranks fine doesn't start. Checked all the fuses again. Nothing. ECU looks fine.

I did a check engine light today to bring up the code. I would get non stop blinks. Would that be a code 0? It wasn't the regular blink you would see and count the blinks as codes.

post a pic of the ecu you have. I had a vvti ecu. The ecu plugs fit and I also through codes and everything. so I thought it cant be the ecu. But I bought one that was know to be working just to see what happened and she it fired right up.

I'm thinking it may be the ECU. Its a ecu from a soarer. I also have another one from a chaser, should be able to work fine. Tried with both ECU, still nothing. I'm also looking at the 1B+ and the B+ wire that is suppose to get voltage, I'm not getting voltage, when I do splice a 12v souce into them. Still nothing happens.

So if anyone in the bay area have a good soarer ecu that they want to sell. Or have a soarer swap into their car that is willing to let me test my ecu on their car I would appreticate it.

I'm getting a code 12 now. Getting fuel, still no spark.

so what'd you do differently? i'm sure the +b has to have voltage now that your fuel pump is working

All I did was fix the tach and temp gauge. Basicl add a ground for the temp gauge.

Also I fixed the wires for the CEL to be able to turn on. Which was just switch a wire over on the JDM connecter. I can definitely smell fuel from the spark plugs.

Still no spark. Code 12, RPM signal, probably I'm thinking either crankshaft position sensor or camshaft position sensor. But I already check the sensors themselves. They're fine. I believe timing may be off. Anyone got a diagram showing where the marking on the crank and cam should be?

well i wouldnt bother about the timing issue until you know you have spark first.

remember, just because the sensors are fine..which i'm sure they are...doesnt mean you have it wired correctly.
