1jz swamp is it worth it??

a 1jz is nice on stock twins, or probably even a fast spooling single (gt3076r or something).. so is perfect for your goals.. Its a very reliable engine and will handle the track outings you seem to want to do (of course with good cooling and oil cooler).. the lack of big torque from the 1jz is actually a good thing in this case.. will allow you to get up on it fast coming out of the turns without wheel spin.. its a very nice powerband as well.. from 3500/4000 to 6500 pulls awesome, much better then a stock ct 7m (3500/4000 to 5500 maybe 6k)

I've never driven a 2J but my IJ sure can run. I agree the 1J has very smooth powerband from around 3500-5000 rpm. I can nailed it at 3rd gear at around 4800 rpm and the sucker just pulls and pulls and those damn twins despite of what you hear bad about it (ceramic pea shooter, smoking, blah, blah..) just would not quit.

1J sure is worth it.

lol or that it lacks it. Frankly, if the numbers are within 50 of each other (the peaks) inbetween 250hp-600hp ill be satisfied.

I am Dave that bigaaron mentioned above. Here is the history of my car. I ran a 15.4@91 at Fontana(elev 1200') with my 7m all stock except for exhaust and 11psi boost. I ran 13.35@105 at Salt Lake City(elev 4200') with my 1jz all stock except for exhaust, downpipe, intake, and 15psi boost. Same car, tires, auto trans both times. Also I haven't had to do a thing to my 1j since it went in 17000 miles ago. My 7m went through 2 headgaskets in about 6 months. That is just the facts. It is obvious which I recommend.

Oh yeah and Driftmotion til I die.
