hi i just want to know is a 1jz swap worth doing for circuit racing. the only reasons i can think of that its lighter n revs up quicker but the money u spend doing the swamp you could do that to a 7m. im new to the 1jz engine but it seems to be imposible to get performance parts and there is alot of aftermarket support for the 7m. would it be better to do a 3S swap? or 1jz? or stay with the 7m?

Well it's a revvy engine compared to the 7M and very durable, but if you're doing circuit racing you may consider the 2JZ swap, it's about as much trouble but will net better results IMO.

1JZGTE from jza70 is a direct swap with almost no mods at all
2JZGTE is a lot more work you need the 1jzgte bell housing and might as well get a low milage 1jzgte 5 speed with the bell housing.

Dont bother with a 2JZGTE unless you want more then 700whp the 1jzgte could make up to that with no problem.

Well if money is no object to you get a 2jzgte upgrade it to a single so it fits well get advanced stand alone engine managment use the 6 speed but mod your rear subframe to accept the 9" properly gear rear diff. but by the time you do all this you might go the cheaper route and get a mkiv to begin with.

Id say just stick with a 1jzgte and the swamp is worth it to me.

depends on yur goals

but for the extra work i'd say 2JZ. i've never seen a 1JZ go mid 12's at 1teens on stock twins with just intake and exhaust

edit:: in a full weight mkiii

I'd say go with the 1JZ. It's very durable and like mentioned before, it's revvy. You can do anything to this motor and it will keep going (from my experience). I don't think the 7M is worth building. I just can't stand them. I've had way more issues with 7M's then I have with my one 1JZ. If you spend the same amount of money on a 1JZ and a 7M, I think you would end up coming out better with a 1JZ. And that's including the cost of the swap!

Bruce's 1jz just made 317whp and 324tq on a Dynapack dyno yesterday, and that was stock twins, with a cat, at 16psi. Mark's 1jz made 426whp with just a turbo upgrade. Jay's was at 450whp or somewhere around there last time I heard. Pete's is well over 500whp. My buddy Dave just called me yesterday, he ran a 13.2 at 105 with his stock automatic 1jz, at 2200ft elevation, and he is on crappy stock size rear tires. I really don't understand why people are constantly pushing for 2jz swaps. Most of the people pushing for 2jz swaps in mk3's either have never driven a 1jz at all, or have never driven a 1jz that actually runs well.

Its called ignorance. Congratulate Bruce for me!
