While were on the topic of starters....does anyone know the fix to the problem where you have to turn the key over and over until it starts? Sometimes it's starts right up, sometimes it takes as many as 10 tries. It's pretty annoying and I was just wondering.

Sounds like it's not holding fuel pressure?

Unless you mean you have to hold the key for it to turn over.. in that case it would be old wires to the starter/dying battery?

Is this on hot starts, cold starts?

Yea, it just clicks. It's very intermittent. Usually good on the first start of the day. But, most of the time is on a hot start. Although, a couple times today it started just fine and other times today it didn't. I guess the only wire that I didn't replace when I did the swap is the one from the starter to the battery cable in the engine bay. I have the battery relocated to the trunk and all those wires are brand new.

the clicking issue to me would be the selinod or a corrodid connection.

yah the Nissan Titans are under the intake manifold too. I don't really like the design, but the intake manifold comes off easy.

i'm having that clicking problem as well. gotta keep bumping the key to key to get it to start. conrad at c&n said that's a common problem with 1jz swapped cars and the remedy is to wire in a solenoid for the starter. gonna get mine done next weekend costs like 40 bucks for the solenoid and wiring and labor.

Usually when Toyota starters die, it's due to worn starter contacts. Just replace the contacts. Problem solved. :)

EDIT: For what it's worth, the 1JZ-GTE starter is the exact same part number as the 91-92 7M-GTE starter (28100-46090, subs to 28100-46100).
