Quick question...
if i pant my intake will it hold in heat ? and if so enough to worry about
also if i get polished is it a pain to keep looking fresh ?

...unless you use a product called Zoopseal (or similar) to seal it, it's going to be a pain in the ass to keep shiny.

For a car that gets driven quite regularly (I'm guessing yours does) I always feel that black is a safe way to go because it's easy to clean up and doesn't take a lot of maintenance.

As far as your intake holding in heat, I'm not positive, but I think that the differences in temps would be negligible.

I vote polish everything. The valve covers will take atleast 10-12 hours to do by hand without power tools. It's well worth the time though because the end result is amazing looking and the heat is removed faster. See the last couple pages of my build thread to see my polished valve covers.

If you use a high heat paint it should hold up fine. A lot of people just use regular primer and paint on the VC's and it works fine.

yea so you only used 400 , 600 , and 2000 ???

That's right, the 400 did most of the work. I really should have picked up some 1000 too, but oh well. Getting these 4 sizes will help get rid of all the divets while minimizing the removal of material. Also, make sure you use a sanding sponge. Never sand with a bare hand. You'll leave lines if you do.

What I'll Be Doing;

Valve Covers: Polished
Spark Plug Cover: Black Gloss
Cam Gear Cover: Black Gloss
FFIM: Polished
Exhaust Manifold: Ceramic Coated
Turbos: Polished
Turbo Piping: Polished
Lines: Steel Braided
Hoses: Carbon Looking Weave Hose Wrap
Spark Plug Wires: Black
Engine Block: Left Like New Aluminum
Engine Head: Left Like New Aluminum
Water Pump (Etc.): Polished

For me personally this presents a stock appearance but a very appealing stock appearance. It will be very clean with the wiring harness hidden and tucked through the frame rails. Battery and Fuse box relocated. Clean matching glossy engine bay with smooth fabrication for a clean appearance. Both turbos and Intake Manifold facing forward, with (hopefully) side mounted IC's to keep hidden from wandering eyes.

Opinions?

Thanks man. I'm not going to tune the 1 JZ-GTE i'm putting in this car. Just gonna be my daily putter that can kick but if it wants to. But i'm gona do the exact same thing with another supra the exact same color but i'll tune that 1JZ-GTE when i get to that point.

I just sort of have a thing for a clean stock car, but if I have two of the same I might as well toy with the second one right? lol.
